In Steubenville, Ohio, on November 18, 2012, seventeen-year old Abdulhakim Muhammad al-Shahi killed two people and injured thirteen others with a gun he had stolen from his family. The shooter's rampage began after a fistfight between several individuals in the town's Commons area. Al-Shahi managed to get hold of a gun that was being sold at the local convenience store and began shootingrandomly at passersby. The assault rifle he used was purchased by him for $200 from a man who lived in nearby Clinton Township. Al-ShahiAuthorities soon became aware of the shootings and set up a perimeter around the town center in an attempt to prevent any more injuries or fatalities. However, as time passed and no one was reported dead or injured, police decided to open fire on al-Shahi in order to stop his spree. By the time they arrived on scene, al- Shahi had already killed two people and wounded thirteen others before surrendering himself. He has been charged with three counts of first degree murder and twenty-four counts of felonious assault.

Steubenville is a small town in Ohio, United States. It is located in the Steubenville-Warren County seat of Lynchburg. The population was 5,424 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Steubenville was Nicholas Steuben, who arrived in 1795. The first store opened in 1814 and the post office was established in 1827. In 1830, John Cramer purchased land east of town and built what became known as the Cramer House. In 1833, Ebenezer Dickinson bought land west of town and began to build a house that would become known as the Dickinson House. The first school district was organized in Steubenville on May 20, 1837 by Amos Greene and James Hays (the father of Representative George Hays). In 1840, Isaac Fenton settled near present day Steubenville on lands he had acquired from David Ziegler. In 1841, Augustus Strouse founded a grocery store near where today's Harrison Street meets Third Avenue. In 1850, Abraham Lincoln visited Steubenville for one day while he was campaigning for election to the Ulysses S Grant presidency; his visit is generally considered to be the beginning of American footballs popularity within America. On November 12th 1860, Abraham Lincoln married Mary Todd Lincoln at First Presbyterian Church–then called White Hall–inSteubenville during an event which also included speeches by General Robert Ewell Lee and Governor Salmon Pyle; it is said that Mrs Lincoln did not attend because she disapproved of Confederate military activity around her home village (Lincoln later remarked "I could not forbear giving her satisfaction"). If you want to know about our very own history then I can tell you that on this date back over three hundred years ago there were some brave people from Ohio who decided to set up shop down here in our fair city of Steubenville! Just like any other city or community it went through crazy changes over time but we definitely have some amazing memories associated with us! Our very own Mr President himself graced us with his presence back when he stopped by for just one night during his tour through our area back in November 1860! And whataburger might not have been invented yet but everyone knows about those delicious little moments like when he would stop by our high school or drop into our local barber shop…..okay so maybe not all those things happened exactly how they did supposed to but still pretty cool none-the-less! In 1833, the town of Steubenville was founded by German immigrants. The first school in Steubenville was opened in 1835. In 1840, a courthouse and jail were built. The town developed a market and a few mills until the late 1800s when steamboats began to use the river as their transportation route. The Steubenville cotton mill closed in 1907 but reopened in 1912 as the Westinghouse Cotton Mill. It stopped making cotton after World War II, but it is still used for research purposes today.
