Bipedalism has been present in Steubenville, Ohio for thousands of years. One of the first bipedal humans in Steubenville were the Mound Builders, who built the world's first mound builder culture about 11,000 years ago. The cultures that followed were also known for their impressive architecture and sculpture. The early Steubenvilleans were able to develop a strong sense of self-reliance and community because they had to use their hands to build things. This led to them becoming expert builders and architects. However, due to advances in technology, the Mound Builders began construction on large mounds that could never be completed. As a result, these cultures lost much of their ability to create lasting cultural changes. However, some modern individuals who live in Steubenville are still trying to learn how their predecessors lived and built. They hope this will help preserve our ancestors' stories and memories within our cityscape.
