In 1836, Springfield Township in Miami County, Ohio voted to adopt a resolution designating an area of land for the purpose of erecting a public school. The vote was not unanimous, and some residents felt that the school should be located in their town rather than in unincorporated territory. So the township trustees decided to build a school on land donated by John D’Angelo. The first building was built on what is now Elm Street and Park Boulevard in 1837. The need for binoculars began to be realized during this time as people traveled to different parts of the country for trade meetings and other events. In 1851, President James K. Polk issued an Executive Order that established America’s first national telescope at Mount Wilson. This event helped promote binocular use as a means of observation because it made it easier for people to see things that were miles away instead of having to leave their homes and walk there. Binocular use continued to grow throughout the 1800s as more people became interested in learning about new cultures and countries. In 1907, Springfield erected its own National Museum which contained many interesting items related tobinocular history such as telescopes and microscope slides used by scientists during the 19th century. Binocular use also increased when radio broadcasting began so people could hear everything going on around them from anywhere they wanted without leaving their home or traveling outside the United States!

Today, Springfield remains an important center for commerce and government with a diverse range of businesses including banks (including Wells Fargo & Co.), health care providers (such as UnitedHealthcare), manufacturing (including ConAgra Foods), professional services (such as law firms and accounting firms), education (particularly graduate-level school) and retail outlets such as KFC/Arby's and JCPenney).

Springfield is a town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,856 at the 2000 census. The town was founded in 1824 by settlers from Pennsylvania and named for General John Forbes of Scotland. It was incorporated as a city in 1858. Springfield became an unincorporated community in 1916. The city limits were expanded to include the current towns of Springfield Township, Delaware Township and parts of Scioto Township in 1978. The first permanent European settler in what is now Springfield Township was Nicholas Swartz who arrived on October 6, 1795 with his family from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He named the township after himself and his brother Samuel Swartz Jr., both natives of Philadelphia.Nicholas Swartz settled on a farm near present-day Elmira where he built a cabin and raised livestock until 1800 when he sold his land to Isaac Kappner for £100 plus costs of transportation to this new location. In 1800 Kappner married Anna Fenton who had come overland from Virginia with her father and mother around age 12 or 13 years old. Anna's older sister Judith had also come overland but died young at sea before reaching America; Judith's body still lies buried at sea today off the coast of Long Island City, New York City." On January 2nd, 1824 (the date that General John Forbes set out from Lancaster County) the first group of settlers reached what would become Springfield Township located just east of present-day Delaware Valley Regional Park/Springfield Municipal Airport on what is now State Route 506 (later I-71), less than one year afterSwartz' arrival."As early as 1822", Edward Prentice wrote "into [what is now] Delaware Township west side... migrated Josephine Weiser & some others coming downriver". On December 25th 1830 "Nathan Whetstone" established a homestead north side School Road/Route 11 which stretched along present day High Street just east of US Route 21."In March 1832 Nathaniel Whetstone sold all his land except one league on either side Beaver Creek River to James Boggs for $320 cash + four oxen & three mules". A post office called Clarksville was established there on July 1st 1840("Clarksville Post OfficeJuly 1 1840") by James Boggs."Boggs served as postmaster until 1865". One source claims that Clarkstown may have been named after Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene who fought against British forces under George Washington near Saratoga Battlefield during the American Revolution However this attribution has not been confirmed." uponJames Boggs death on November 5th 1865 he bequeathed part of his estate including the Clarksville post office building to trustees under direction of Governor Frankford Clinton "...Clinton used it as an academy until 1945"...The property passed through several hands before it reverted back into private ownership following World War II when it was purchased by Mrs Betty Fife who donated it to local school district administrators According To Mrs Betty Fife “It’s our dream to see that this building becomes home again for children like myself – so they can learn how to read and write”...It reopened as Springdale Elementary School which closed its doors in 2001 due primarily to budgetary constraints..."
