Springdale is a municipality located in the southeast corner of Ohio, United States. The population was 8,564 at the 2010 census. Springdale is east of Cincinnati and west of Dayton. It is bordered by Latrobe to the north, Beavercreek Township to the east, Findlay Township to the south, and Sandusky County to the west. The village of Springdale was organized on April 12, 1836. The first post office was established in that year. On May 1, 1851, it became a borough. On November 3rd of that year it became a city charter with a population of 714 people The area now known as Springdale was part of what were then Johnson County and Holmes County until 1827 when they were combined into Trumbull County under territorial control from Ohio State Department of Land Management (OLDM). In 1837 Trumbull County was divided among two new counties: Montgomery and Clinton Counties both formed from parts of Holmes County which had voted against becoming part of Trumbull County because they felt their land would not be respected if it belonged only to one county In 1850 Stevens Fork Railroad came through Springdale on its way from Cleveland to London During World War II many factories were built here including Beech Aircraft Company Plant #1 where Curtiss JN-4B "Wildcat" fighter aircraft were made Springdale has been home to various professional football teams over the years including Green Bay Packers (1910–1917), Pittsburgh Steelers (1970–1978), Cleveland Browns (1989–1998) and Cincinnati Bengals (2001–present). In all but one season since 1990 there have been at least ten different NFL teams playing in or near Springdale In addition to professional football there are also several minor league baseball teams based in town such as the North Little Rock Cardinals (AHL) and the Soo Lake Braves (AFL) as well as indoor soccer team USL Indy Eleven who play their home games at PNC Arena which opened in 2006

Springdale was originally a small town in Jackson County, Ohio, about 20 miles east of Toledo. The first white person to live in the area was Nicholas Haines, who arrived in 1810. In 1812, John Stephenson founded the village of Springdale and became its first mayor. In 1836, Indian Removal began and by 1840, most of the Indians had been forced out of the area. The town slowly lost population as farmers moved into the area or took up other occupations. However, it regained some population after World War II when many veterans settled there. The present-day Springdale community was platted in 1865 by Wm. Fenton and Jno. Merrill as part of a scheme to develop land around Toledo for agricultural purposes. It became a city on November 3, 1907 when it joined the larger Toledo metropolitan area. The population peaked at 25,000 in 1940 but has since declined gradually due to loss of jobs and commuting opportunities outside the city limits
