In 1917, they moved their store to 227 E 5th Street which became known as "The Optical Emporium" until it closed its doors in 1978. From then on, the store's name changed several times but always retained its connection to optical products. After years of neglect, the Springdale Camera & Photo Supply Co., Inc., opened its doors on Main Street in 1980 and quickly became one of the most popular optical businesses in town. It currently operates as an independent business with over 40 years of experience providing quality optics to residents of Springdale and surrounding areas.

Springdale is a town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 12,419 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskingum Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what is now Springdale was Abram Bliss in 1812. He and his family were one of several families who started to move into this area from nearby Cardigan Township in 1814. Abram's son, Solomon Bliss, also an agriculturalist and landowner, bought 1,000 acres (400 hectares) of land on the east side of the Cuyahoga River in 1827 for $1,000. This site would become known as Bliss Field after him and his brother Samuel bought it from John Morse and other settlers near Aurora Heights on April 25th of that year. After years of development by local farmers and entrepreneurs such as Solomon Bliss and others through purchase or donation of landholdings until it became a township in 1903, much progress was made during World War II when many residents enlisted in the military or worked for various organizations patriotic to America such as Ford Motor Company or GMAC Motors Corporation which were all located within easy driving distance of their homes.
