Springdale is a small town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Chester–Muncie Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Springdale were the Potawatomi Indians, who founded a village on the banks of the Scioto River in 1795. The land that now makes up Springdale was plowed and logged by early settlers beginning in 1811. Isaac Saylor purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) of land south of present-day Springdale from John Stephenson in 1827. He named his tract "Springdale" after his home spring near Welton, England. The community began to grow rapidly during the 1830s as fur trappers and farmers developed new land around their spring sources. By 1840, there were 12 homes and 2 schools in Springdale; it had a population of 350 people. By 1850, however, it had grown to 462 people with 10 stores and 30 barns; it was an agricultural center with wheat and other crops thriving despite harsh weather conditions which caused extensive crop failures throughout most of that decade. In 1857, James Davenport donated 710 acres (291 hectares) west of town for use as a township seat; this area became known as Davenport Township when it was organized into Butler County on March 14, 1857. In 1865, following passage of the Kansas-Ohio Railway Act which allowed railroads to be built through Butler County,[2] two more townships – North Bend Township (organized December 16th, 1865) and Muskingum Township (organized January 24th), 1895 – were added to Butler County: these townships formed what is now Muskingum Valley Township on April 15th 1898.[3] In 1907 Uniontown trustees voted not to accept annexation by Springdale because they felt that its growth would not be compatible with Uniontown's core values[4]. On May 9th 1907 trustees again voted not to annex because of this same reason; however residents appealed both decisions,[5] resulting in a 3-1 vote against annexation on October 13th 2007 at an election held within Uniontown Borough limits instead.[6] This event set off heated discussions between residents and trustees over whether or not annexation should continue[7][8][9][10] until finally approval was granted by voters on November 8th 2007[11], giving rise to what has been called "the biggest municipal rebellion ever staged against an Ohio municipality".[12][13][14] A few months later on February 11st 2008 local media reported that Springdale officials had applied for permission from federally ownedland zoned for oil production adjacent to their borough limits[15]; this story quickly went viral leading some residents angry over what they saw as government mishandling of an issue which could have major implications for their community.[16][17][18] Ultimately no oil production took place but public outcry led authorities backpedaling on their application[19]:springdalewomanx@mailandphonearchiveintelprodexportapplication

Springdale is a town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati–Middletown–Wilmington, OH-KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Springdale were David and Esther Brown who arrived in 1795. They founded the village of Brownstown on the Scioto River near present-day Dayton. In 1802 they moved to what is now Springdale and named it after their home town of Brownstown in Scotland. David Waddell also settled there around this time and named his farmstead "Wadsworth". The first post office in Springdale was established on March 12, 1815 by John Dibbley with the name of "Dibblee". The early pioneers here were farmers whose main crop was corn which they raised for export to Great Britain and other parts of America. However, due to technological advances new methods had to be developed for growing crops such as irrigation systems that supported large herds of cows and pigs that provided milk for local shops as well as meat for local families. When railroads came along these pioneers took advantage of them by sending goods through towns like Youngstown on various trains each day bringing people materials like flour, lumber, cheese and eggs from Chicago down to Cincinnati via the Erie Canal while still being able to maintain a close connection with family back home. In 1874 a group of men from Springfield set up shop here when they opened an agricultural store called the Greene Bros landrace market place where they sold groceries direct to consumersrather than through middlemen such as grocers or manufacturers who would package them into baskets or cases ready for shipment). By 1880 there were over 50 small businesses operating here including shoe stores, dry goods stores, blacksmiths/forgers/weavers etc., making it one of the largest commercial centers east of Pittsburgh (the equivalent today would be Indianapolis) There was also a school system which operated two schools: one teacher's college (now known as Huntington University) run by Pastor John Whitehead (founder), later pastor emeritus at Christ Presbyterian Church; and another school run by Reverend James Aiken (later Jarrell Aiken) which served grades K-12thTopics covered at this early age included religious instruction; farming; sex education; health education; trade skills needed for enteringprising businesswomenand young men alike); There was no telephone service until about 1900 so most communication happened through visits from friends or family membersoccasionally during springtime when classes let out for summer recess." In 1814, a group of Americans laid out Springdale Township in what is now the city of Dayton. The first settler was Nicholas Swartz, who arrived in 1815. In 1870, the first school was built in Springdale and it was operated by the Methodist Church. In 1907, the township became a part of Lucas County.
