The rich history of this small town has been chronicled by numerous writers over the years; some of these include: Gene Siskel writing about John Sprague; Darrell Ziegler who wrote about "the good ol' days" prior to what happened during World War II; David Lapp who detailed how schools have changed over time while also noting that "Springdale is still pretty much just like it always was." Some residents still maintain strong connections with their childhood memories which can be seen throughout society through various activities such as making crafts or participating locally hosted events such as caroling or picnics during Christmas season or hosting block party style gatherings during summertime called "Fairs".

In 1868, when Springdale became a village under regulation by Ohio State University (OSU), its residents elected their own mayor and city attorney; this allowed them more control over their community's affairs than had been possible before because OSU exerted little control over local government overall. The rapid growth that followed continued through World War II as many soldiers brought their families back to live inSpringdale after fighting overseas; this added even more people to the community which quickly reached its maximum size prior to World War II at 115,000 individuals (although this number may have been higher since some sources list Springdale’s peak size as 120,000).
