In 1834, James Kinney started construction on what would become known as Kinney’s Mill which provided employment for many people during the early days of springtime textile production throughout Ohio Valley region including Springboro where cotton goods were made into clothes for American soldiers during World War II as well as other national products like candy bars etc.. When demand for goods increased following WWII, Kinney’s Mill closed its doors permanently in 1957 due to competition from larger mills with similar equipment within miles or even hours drive away! Today only an abandoned foundation remains near downtown Springboro which provides clues about how this once thriving mill functioned over 200 years ago! During prohibition era (1912- 1933) local citizens banded together to fight prohibition efforts led by mayors John Fenton (1920- 1924), Dwight Morrow (1928- 1933) and Sidney Sibley (1933- 1936). After prohibition ended residents voted overwhelmingly not to join alcoholics Anonymous chapters organized statewide prior to Prohibition’s end so they could continue selling liquor legally! However some members did form groups such as “Citizens Against Alcohol Abuse” which still meets monthly today! Today spring time brings hope throughout the community when new life begins anew with fresh flowers blooming along streetsides while trees are regenerating buds giving off new life energy all season long!
