The first Europeans to visit what is now Springboro were traders and missionaries who traveled through the area in search of new religious and trade opportunities. In 1795, James Wilkinson purchased land from the Seneca nation for $1,000. He named his ranch "New Beginnings" after his promise to improve life for all those who would live there. Wilkinson built a small log cabin on his property and opened it up as a trading post with other settlers in 1807. In 1814, George Stephenson founded the city of Dayton on land he had bought from Wilkinson. Stephenson donated 3 acres (10 hectares) of what is now downtown Dayton toSpringboro for use as a town square and schoolhouse. In 1826, when Springboro incorporated as a municipality, it became one of two townships in Butler County that did not become part of Cleveland until 1840; the other township was Albion Township.. During World War II, Springboro played an important role in supplying food and munitions to Allied forces during Operation Overlord by providing housing and employment for war workers. The local economy also benefited from military production such as truck tires and radios.. Since its incorporation into Cleveland Municipal School District in 1974,Springboro has experienced significant growth with an increase in residents (+421%)and businesses (+847%). On July 1st 2017- just over 10 years since incorporation into CMSD- Springboro’s largest annexation ever!!

On November 15, 1828, it became a part of the newly formed Northwest Territory when that territory was split between Ohio and Indiana. It initially contained only 3 settlers but soon grew to include 10 more people. By 1830, Springboro had also developed into a commercial center with businesses such as Taverns John & Jameson's Store and Flanders' Brewery co-operating to provide goods for local consumers. In 1833, New England resident Daniel Cushman purchased land east of town from Nicholas Weems for $2 per acre (the equivalent of $40 in 2017). He named his new community after himself – Springboro Township – which he intended to serve as an agricultural center for surrounding farms and villages. By 1840, Springboro had reached its peak as a manufacturing center with breweries like Taylor's Brewery producing corn oil lamps and buttons for export to Europe. However, during the mid-19th century technological progress led to increased production costs associated with new inventions such as electric lights which caused industry closures in the area during the early 20th century; this contributed significantly toSpringboro's decline during this period." During World War II Springboro experienced some growth due to servicemen returning home from overseas service having access to food stamps which provided them with money they could purchase goods necessary for their wartime needs such as gasoline or ammunition while supplies lasted
The town of Springboro, Ohio was founded in 1795 by Williamstown settlers. It was named for General David Wilkinson, who led the British during the Northwest Indian War. The town grew rapidly and by 1803 it had a population of around 100 people. In 1825, Springboro became a village and in 1835 it became a city. In 1907, Springboro expanded to include the villages of Buckeye and Wilberforce.
