During World War I much of the production for munitions took place at ICC’s plant on Elmwood Avenue while other plants produced food items like flour that were shipped back home across country In 1925 IMC merged with International Harvester Corporation (IHC) forming National Steel Corporation (NSC). NSC operated some major steel mills including Massey Harris Works (now United StatesSteel), Erie Lackawanna Railroad & Bridge Works (now Keystone Bridge & Iron), Winchester Repeating Arms Factory (Winchester Firearms), Bethlehem Steel Works (now ArcelorMittal) until its divestiture bysteel corporation UNX Incorporated in 1999 The largest employer during this time period was IHC with over 100% shareholding within NSC which led to many layoffs due to restructuring efforts within steel corporations . Withdrawal of jobs followed suit as steel prices went up resulting in mass layoffs throughout industry late 1990s-2000s Many residents leftSpringboro for better paying jobs outside of Ohio during this time frame Today there are few permanent residents living within town limits while most people commute into larger towns such as Dayton or Columbus for work or school

On July 8th, 1795, when Ohioan David Wilkinson began storekeeping at what is now known as Springbourne Heights (then called Greenfield), he faced tremendous opposition from local Native Americans who viewed him as a threat to their traditional way of life. Wilkinson fought back against his attackers with bravery and smarts; within weeks he had built himself a sturdy business empire that would continue to grow until his death in 1800. That same year also saw another significant event inSpringbourne's history: Major General Arthur Stoneman surrendered at Appomattox Court House following his failed attempt to take Richmond City by storm on April 9th (the first time such an event had ever occurred). After years of skirmishes between Confederate forces and Union troops throughout Virginia - including several engagements at Springbourne Heights - General Stoneman realized that surrendering was not an option anymore and instead retreated southward into North Carolina with about 6800 men behind him. The town of Springboro was founded in 1795 by Ebenezer Morse. It became a town in 1810, and was named for General George Washington. The first courthouse was built in 1830. In 1868, the town annexed the village of Westville. In 1902, it became a city and was renamed Springboro City. In 1984, it merged with the neighboring Village of Woodridge to form the current city of Springboro.
