Springboro, Ohio is a city in central Ohio, located in the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area. As of the 2010 census, the population was 25,878. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Daytona Beach, OH Combined Statistical Area. The city is home to Springboro High School and the University of Akron. The first guns were made in Springboro by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and his son Nicholas Conte II in 1796. In 1814-1815 David Twitch built a gunsmith shop on Market Street. This shop was known as Twitch's Armory until 1861 when it became Springboro Arsenal & Forge Company with David Twitch as its first president. The Gunsmiths Association of America was founded in 1911 by John Purdy and George Moulder at this forge company site. With World War I ceasefire came an increase in production due to increased demand from both military and hunting use; however production ceased during World War II because of American entry into war against Japan. Construction began on Springboro Municipal Airport (now called Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) on land donated by Edwin Hargrave in 1936; it opened for operations on November 12, 1938. In 1940 the United States Government purchased 3 acres (1 km2) from Edwin Hargrave for $2 million dollars to create what would become Reagan National Airport; this airport has since been renamed after Ronald Reagan as well as other localities throughout Greater Cleveland area including Springboro proper where he spent two years as President before being elected 44th Governor of Ohio in 1984 After World War II civilians stopped using firearms while government agencies continued to do so until 1978 when orders started coming back from overseas for more firearms then had been produced domestically ever before leading to mass manufacturing starting at Reagan National Airport which led to Springfield Armory becoming one of North America's largest arms dealers with a branch presence outside North America TodaySpringboro is home to many industries that contribute towards making our community one such as education, health care, technology and more

That same year saw the founding of Springboro Township by Edward Hutton and others.
