South Euclid, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and part of the Akron metropolitan area. The population was 7,567 at the 2010 census, making it the third-most populous town in Summit County after Canton and Youngstown. It lies on State Route 11 east of Akron and west of Canton. The first settlers in South Euclid were two families from Connecticut who arrived in 1795 while exploring the area that would later become Summit County. James Caldwell, one of these pioneers, erected a log cabin on what is now Park Avenue in 1802. The community was named for General John Wayne Post (1775-1837), an American Revolutionary War veteran and governor of New York City under President George Washington. In 1815, South Euclid became a town when it merged with neighboring Fairview to form West Fairview Township. In 1825, its name was changed to Euclid Township when it joined with Canal du Nord Township to form Summit County Silk Road Township; this change followed township boundaries changes caused by changing water levels within the Monongahela River valley during several years). The first settler to come through South Euclid on what is now Park Avenue was Isaac Morse in 1830s; he platted what is today's south side of Park Avenue as part of his land grant from Governor John Prentice Coxe to pioneer Timothy Greenough and his family in 1792-93 (Greenough became an early settler at North East corner near where Downing Street meets Park Avenue today). Euclid's growth started slowly but steadily over time until World War II brought about rapid population growth that left little room for development downtown or along major thoroughfares like Park Avenue or State Route 11 which have seen significant redevelopment since then including new stores, restaurants and office buildings all located along Interstate 90 just north of := South Euclid High School which has been home to local high school athletes ever since its founding in 1903 as Columbian High School/South Euclid Academy; also located nearby are many small businesses serving both residential and commercial customers all situated around central Market Square which has served as the centerpiece for much neighborhood activity throughout its history dating back more than a century

Euclid was a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,000 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1814 by Colonel John Fell and his brother-in-law Nicholas Ballou. Euclid is named after Alexander Hamilton, one of the authors of the United States Constitution. The first settlers were Captain James Caldwell and his family who arrived on July 3, 1814. They built a log cabin on what is now State Road 7 near modern day Euclid Heights. It would be their home for the next four years until they could find more permanent land to settle on. On October 25, 1816, General David Cranch led an army against the Creek Indians and destroyed their village near present day Painesville Township in Stark County. This event helped spur other settlers to come to Euclid from all over Ohio and Kentucky in search of new land to farm. By 1820 there were over 50 families living in Euclid proper with some located as far away as Delaware and West Chester (now Pittsburgh). The first school opened in Euclid on December 4, 1819 by Reverend Amos Bailey teacher at First Presbyterian Church under sponsorship of General Andrew Johnson himself. In addition to education there were also several businesses established during this time including sawmills, grist mills and tanneries which continue operation today within the boundaries of Euclid Township even though those businesses no longer produce anything physical but memories or stories about them! Many residents still attend classes at First Presbyterian Church which has been open since that date! With its rich history and community spirit – many people feel like it’s still right here where they grew up! One such resident is Mrs Betty Mae Henshaw who attended high school here from 1951 until her retirement in 2006! Mrs Henshaw also served as Vice President for Local Initiatives for The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Cleveland Chapter from 1984 until her death back in 2006 (She had been cared for by our local chapter ever since!). Betty Mae epitomized everything that we believe makes good Community Member behavior – she always put others before herself and always went out of her way to help others just because she loved doing so! She will truly be missed but never forgotten…

The Euclid area was first settled by the Wyandots in the 1780s. In 1802, a group of Ohio Company settlers, led by Captain John Ketchum and his brother-in-law Nicholas Gassaway, mapmakers for the Ohio Company, founded what is now downtown Euclid. The settlement was called "New Euclid" because it was located near the new town of Euclid (then called "Euclidi") that had been laid out by Peter Hancock and others in 1801. In 1825, when Cleveland became a city, New Euclid became part of what is now downtown Cleveland. By 1830, much of the land around present day Cleveland had been developed as homes for officials and their families on Second Avenue between State and Erie Streets. A small amount of land still remains undeveloped to this day around Northeast corner of Superior and Erie Streets in downtown Cleveland. This area is known as Parkview Heights. In 1859, after years of effort by several groups including The First National Bank (now Procter & Gamble), local citizens formed the Euclid Area Improvement Society to improve conditions in central business district areas north and east of Market Street between Superior Avenue and Canfield Road with an eye towards developing properties along those two streets into a single commercial center anchored at Main Street between Canfield Road and East 90th Street. The society's efforts were successful enough that a few blocks northeast of Market Street on Superior Avenue – just south of where Parkview Heights currently stands – another section of market-rate property was purchased from Mrs. John Prentice for $1,000 in 1861 to becomeyet another cornerstone in what would eventually become Downtown Cleveland's core: Parkview Heights today!
