By 1951, when Photofactors Corporation became a subsidiary of American Broadcasting Company (ABC), local optics companies had become so powerful that ABC decided to merge them all into one company under the name ABC-Optic Systems Corporation (AOSP). AOSP continued to grow rapidly throughout the 1960s until it acquired several other local optic companies during that decade including: Western Electric Co., Orion Cameras Company Ltd., Eastern Electric Co., Midland Camera Corp., Erie Camera Corp., Victorinox Opticals Incorporated (VIO), Cleveland Radio Electronics Corp., Dayton Radio Electronics Corp., Con Edison Light & Power Co.-South Euclid Division

In 1907, Eberhard Ziegler opened his own grocery store on North Road in South Euclid; this store remains open today as Ziegler's Supermarket Incorporated.. In 1928, Samuel Sills opened his own clothing shop on West Third Street in South Euclid; this shop continues to be open today as Sills' Clothing Store Incorporated.. In 1951, Pee Wee Reese opened his first movie theater in town - The Pee Wee Reese Theatre - which remains open today as Regal Cinemas Corporation.. South Euclid experienced significant growth during World War II due to its strategic location midway along the US-Canadian border near Windsor Ontario. Three factories were located within one kilometer of each other at South Euclid: Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Bethlehem Steel Corp., and United States Military Aircraft Factory No. 3 (USMAF3). These factories manufactured airplanes for both military use and export into Europe .[1]During World War II, much of what is now south east side of town was flooded because ofWWII production at three factories: Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Bethlehem Steel Corp., and United States Military Aircraft Factory No . 3 (USMAF3).

The first Europeans to explore the area that is now Ohio were the French in the 17th century. The area was first inhabited by the Shawnee, a Native American people. In 1801, Ohio became part of the United States of America and its territorial boundaries were defined by the United States Census of 1820. In 1828, Ohio became part of Indiana Territory along with all of Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin. In 1847, when Indiana and Minnesota split from Indiana Territory, Oregon County was created in west-central Ohio as well as in east-central Iowa. On February 14, 1850, a bill was introduced into the U.S. Congress to create Indian Reservations in central and eastern Ohio for certain tribes of Indians who had been forced out of their ancestral lands by white settlers during the Trail of Tears period (1837-1849). The bill failed to receive enough support to be passed into law.
