When firearms were first introduced into the United States, there was much debate as to what type of clothing would be best suited for carrying and using such a dangerous weapon. many people believed that any person who chose to use a firearm must be clad in protective clothing. In 1812, the first reference to wearing firearms anywhere in the United States was found in an advertisement for pistols printed in Philadelphia. The advertisement noted that “No other country offers better protection from the pistols of our enemies than America’s free and open continent.” This quote is reflective of early American gun culture where anyone who enjoyed using firearms had to take precautions against being shot by their opponents or potential enemies. The early days of firearms were not without danger either. In 1794, a gunman named John Brown killed six innocent people at a militia convention in Lexington, Kentucky after killing two officers and wounding three others with his rifle. Brown was later captured and executed by hanging. This event led to further debate over whether or not civilians were allowed access to Firearms and how safe they felt traveling with them around town without fear of being shot by someone intent on harming them or themselves. All too often it is these types of tragedies that occur as people do not realize just how dangerous it can be out there wielding a deadly weapon unprotected (Walsh 2006). In South Euclid, Ohio however, we have some interesting examples pertaining specifically to firearm clothing history which deserve mention: 1) Seventeenth century pioneer James Fields invented modern breech Loading Rifle which required shoes instead of stockings/boots while shooting live ammunition through rifles; he wore boots while firing live rounds himself outside his home 2) Civilian disarmament movement began with Second Amendment demand for Prohibition laws effective January 1933 preventing citizens from owning handguns 3) NRA founder Charlton Heston became most famous for role playing cowboy gunslinger Earp Tombstone persona opposite Dean Martin during movie ‘ Gunsmoke ’; he showed off his keen eye for fashion 4) President Ronald Reagan made blue jeans Mandatory Uniform Standards for All Officers subbing section 5054a states “Guardsmen shall wear Proper Clothing When attending public Meetings And theatrical Performances” 6) Thirteenth Amendment outlawed slavery within US.; this amendment also exempted fugitive slaves 7) On July 22nd 1857 issue brief1857 submitted by Attorney General Chase To The United States Supreme Court Regarding The propriety Of A National Militia Which Includes Arms And Ammunition; It Was Said That There Is No Law Against Our Own Citizens Wearing Arms Which Would incriminate Them 8) Gun control advocates argue that since 1938 allfirearmslawshavenotchangedregardingFirearm Regulations & subsequent shootings 9) NRA has successfully lobbied For Repeal Of Brady Handgun Control Act – making it currently law governing handgun ownership

South Euclid, Ohio is a census-designated place inuyall County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,816 at the 2010 census. It lies along State Route 7 east of Cleveland. South Euclid is a residential community with industrial and commercial areas on its periphery. The first Europeans to enter what is now South Euclid were John James Audubon and his son James Audubon Jr., who explored the area in 1836. In 1875 the railroad reached the community from Cleveland; it became an important transportation center for those early days of American industry and commerce in the Great Lakes region. In 1907 General Motors began production at its factory on North Ninth Street just south of East High Street in South Euclid; this was one of several factories built by GM throughout southeastern Ohio during that period. The company moved out of South Euclid after World War II but continued production here until its closing down in 1984. While GM closed down most manufacturing here, some light industrial activity still persists including a plastics plant and a metal-processing plant which use coal dust to produce steel products such as pipes and railings). South Euclid has seen many different resident types over the years: Methodists (until they left for less religious communities around Midwest), Baptists (who gave up their services until about 1940), Jehovah's Witnesses (founded there 1951), Catholics (later merged into Methodistism) and Jews (whose synagogue functions as an elementary school). Many African Americans worked as servants or sharecroppers before becoming blacksmiths or other blue collar workers following repeal of Jim Crow laws across America starting in the 1930s.

South Euclid, Ohio is a community located in the northeast corner of Athens County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. Euclid was founded in 1811 by Captain John Davenport and his family as an agricultural settlement on the east side of what is now South Euclid Road. The name honors Sir George Washington's military general who had fought in the War for Independence. Captain Davenport killed a bear while out hunting near the settlement in 1812 and received a land grant from Washington that included what is now South Euclid Road. In 1815 Lieutenant Colonel James Wilkinson built a log cabin on present-day North Avenue to provide services to settlers living around him on what were then swampy land north ofpresent-day Green Street. Colonel Wilkinson named his community after himself, George Washington's favorite general and friend. In 1818 Daniel Webster bought 640 acres (248 hectares) south of present-day South Euclid along with another 640 acres (248 hectares) from Colonel Wilkinson for $5,000 cash plus 10% interest in future sales. Webster began construction on Ulysses S Grant Park which opened to the public in 1897. One resident said about that time "Ulysses S Grant could have easily walked across our street without ever stepping over one particle of dirt." The first store opened up at 7752 Foster Avenue in 1920 by H C Sellers & Sons grocery store chain owner Milton Hershey Sr., grandson Milton Hershey Jr., son Stanley Hershey and others associated with that era including restaurateur Irving Kirschbaum who would later open LaCrosse's Cafeteria nearby alsoometime around this time). The original store building still stands today as part of North Avenue Baptist Church used as storage until it was moved to its current site next door back in 1930s when South Euclid School District #1 erected their new buildings there also becoming part of North Avenue Baptist Church when they did so). The first Europeans to visit the area were French traders in the mid-1700s. In 1795, General George Washington's army encampment was located on what is now South Euclid. The area was part of the Northwest Territory until 1800, when Ohio became a state. The Battle of Fallen Timbers took place in 1813 on what is now North Euclid Avenue, between South Euclid and East Windsor avenues, during the War of 1812.
