After Indian removal began in 1840, many Shawnees left for various reasons including poverty, disease, warfare or hunting opportunities outside their homeland accessible only through travel downriver or on horseback – something that would not have been possible had they remained living on their traditional homelands where food production could continue uninterruptedly}. In 1802, when Ohio became a state, Solomon Citywas part of Wayland Township within Ottawa County but removed from that township due to lack of population growth while also providing services such as roads and schools within its own boundaries (the first public school opened in Wayland Township on December 12th 1829). On February 13th 1870 President Grant signed an act creating Clermont County with Solomon City included therein making it one of Ohio's original 63 counties created by law following the admission of Ohio into the Union on January 1st 1803. Solon is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town started as a small farming community in 1814 and grew rapidly due to its location on the Great Lakes region and its access to water resources. By 1830, Solon had a school and two churches. The first settler in Solon was John Sperry who came from New York City with his family in 1829. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and named it Sperryville after his father's birthplace in Scotland. In 1835, Solomon Pate purchased 640 acres (248 ha) of land east of present day Solon Center for $5 per acre ($140/ha). This land became known as "The Farm." The first store opened in 1836 on Pioneer Street near the current site of the library building. In 1840, Jabez Brown moved to Solon from Canandaigua, New York with his wife Sarah and their four children under the age of 12 years old. Jabez had been born there in 1793 and died there in 1865 when he was 76 years old. His son Jabez Jr., also an active farmer and political leader in Mahoning County during the early 19th century served as Mayor of Alliance (later Alliance Township) from 1865-1868; he also ran for Congress three times between 1871-1875 but never won office because he did not have enough votes cast by local residents seeking reelection within their township borders In 1861, Solomon Pate sold all remaining property except for about 2 acres (0 ha) around present day Main Avenue to Ezra Cornell for $2 per acre ($32/ha). Ezra was then able to build what would become Cornellsville Hall on that land which still stands today – one of only a few buildings remaining fromSolomon Pate's original farmstead along Main Avenue In 1865, Czarnecki & Company established themselves as a dry goods merchant at 5 Hempstead Road just south of present day I-675 leading into Akron proper . They were followed by several other businesses before 1870 when railroads arrived providing commuters with better transportation options than wagons or carts across miles of open farmland
