Sidney, Ohio is a small town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located about 33 miles (51 km) east of Cleveland on the eastern edge of the Greater Cleveland area. The Sidney town site was first settled by English colonists in 1796. The community was named for Captain Sidney-Johnson, an American Revolutionary War soldier who served as a captain in the British army. In 1802, Sidney became a village under jurisdiction of Cuyahoga County. A schoolhouse and other public buildings were added to the village during this time. In 1814, Sidney incorporated as a city with a vote by its citizens. On July 6 that year, it became one of two cities in Cuyahoga County (the other being Dayton). The city's original boundaries extended only to what are now Prospect Avenue and Euclid Avenue; today these areas form much of downtown Sidney. In 1827–28, construction began on what would become Sidney State University; part of it still stands today as the university's Main Campus Building. After years of discussion and planning (and several false starts), construction finally began on Sidney High School in 1903 and finished just shy of two years later; it remains one of Ohio's oldest high schools open to students statewide today! There have been many additions to Sidney over time: numerous businesses have opened up shop or expanded their operations within the limits currently defined by City Hall – most notably including three restaurants/cafeterias which anchor Main Street near State Street – as well as various bars and retail stores adjacent to City Hall which have helped drive nightlife activity throughout downtown since before Prohibition came into effect! Today there are also multiple professional sports teams located in or around Sidneytown proper: both major League Baseball teams (Cleveland Indians/National Leaguers) are based within walking distance while also boasting minor league affiliates (Akron RubberDucks/Marquette Golden Eagles), making it easy for residents to get involved with all things local & supported economically by those same teams!

Sidney, Ohio is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,872 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1825 by Peter Sidney and his wife Catharine Caldwell as Sidneyville after their home from when they lived on a farm near Dayton been destroyed by fire. In 1827, Sidney built the first gristmill in Sidneyville. In 1830-31, he erected the first schoolhouse in Sidneyville which still stands today and is used as a museum. In 1832-33, Sidney constructed the first frame house in what is now downtown Sidneyville. He also became one of its inaugural incorporators and served as its town clerk until 1840 when he resigned to become US Senator from Ohio. In 1849-50 he helped found the Muskingum County Agricultural Society with Drury Calkins and others and served as president until his death in 1850. After his death, many of his assets were donated to Muskingum County so that it could continue to operate its own society without having to share them with Randolph Township which then became Muskingum Township
