Sharonville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 8,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The CDP is located on the east side of the Cuyahoga River. Sharonville was platted in 1827 by John W. Dennison and named for his father-in-law, Moses Sharon. A post office called Sharonville was established in 1834, and remained in operation until 1954. In 1868, David Ladd developed land near present day Sharonville and built a mill thereon which still operates as a full-time business today. Dennison Township borders both Sharonville proper to the north and west and David Ladd Township to the south and east. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Butler County arrived around 1795 via shipwrecked explorer John James Audubon's "Barbary Coast Expedition."
