Sharonville is a small town in central Ohio, United States. The population was 5,671 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1814 by Joshua L. Shaver and his wife Rebecca. The first post office opened in Sharonville on December 17, 1814. Sharonville grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s due to its location at the intersection of two major transportation routes: the Erie Canal and the road from Cincinnati to Cleveland. In 1850, Joshua L. Shaver donated 4 acres (1 km²) of land to build a school; it would become one of the largest schools in that area. In 1865, David Biddle bought 1/2 mile (0.8 km²) of land east of town for $250 cash and built a cabin named "Bible House". That same year, he married Jane Hixon and started operating what would become known as Biddle's Store which continued until 1931 when it became Brown's Store & Bakery Limited Partnership with headquarters located in Dayton). In 1870, township trustees purchased an additional acre (0.48 km²) west of town for $2,000 from James Wm Pope which would become North Park Cemetery (). During World War II (), many businesses closed their doors due to lack of war production quotas but those that did continue operated until 1947 when all businesses were closed by order from President Harry S Truman (). After victory over Japan in 1945 led to increased demand for goods produced by these companies throughout America (), most reopened within six months after orders arrived back home (). Many residents who had been displaced during World War II returned to Sharonville as postwar housing began becoming available (); many others moved into towns such as Dayton or Springfield while they awaited availability ().

Sharonville is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the west side of the Cuyahoga River. The population was 9,874 at the 2010 census, making it the fourth-most populous town in Greater Cleveland and one of 14 towns in Summit County. The name originated from an English place called Haverhill, which is now part of Akron. The first mention of Sharonville appeared in 1788 when James Haywood wrote about his visit to that area. In 1812, John Prentice built a steamboat dock here and named it after his father-in-law, General David Lawrence. A post office was established at Sharonville in 1816, and remained open until 1889. In 1836, Samuel Morse set up a telegraph line between Cleveland and Cincinnati using animals pulled by horses on two flatcars attached to wagons pulled by four men. This early electric technology helped make possible such things as mass transportation and commerce within cities for the first time. The townspeople were so excited about this new development that they voted to incorporate as a village in 1840. However, due to financial difficulties caused by tight quarters for government officials and businesses within the small community (just over 2 square miles), incorporation was not granted until 1845 after much back and forth discussion among the citizens themselves. During World War II, many people from Sharonville served their country either through service or during military production plants located here such as Ford Motor Company's Willow Run Plant; GMC Truck & Bus Plant; United States Rubber Company's Shaker Heights Plant; Koppers Candy Factory; Allied Signal Corporation's Sayre Laboratories; Sylvania Electric Products' Dresden Assembly Plant; Westinghouse Electric Corporation's Wilmerton Assembly Plant; Northern Illinois Pipe Line Company's Highland Park Assembly plant...the list goes on! After the war ended there was 1 million job seekers who needed someplace to live but no housing available so they just formed their own city called "Sharonville" which quickly became too large for just one village so they compacted into what is now known as Downtown Sharonville while still trying to keep all its secrets
Sharonville was founded in 1796 by the Jenks family. The first post office was established in Sharonville in 1811. In 1857, the city of Sharonville was made a town and it became a village in 1907. In 1916, the city of Sharonville merged with the towns of Winchester and Northfield to form the new town of Ottawa. The last product of this merger was the incorporation of the villages of Northfield, Winchester, and Ottawa into the City of Sharonville on October 1, 1966.
