Sharonville is a small town located in the Scioto Valley of Ohio. The population was 9,562 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield Township Local Government District and is bordered by Columbiana to the north, Steubenville to the east, and Delaware County to the south. The name Sharonville may be derived from a Shawnee word meaning "placed near or among woods." In 1814, General George Washington's army passed through this area while on their way to battle with Britain. A group of settlers named Sharon established themselves in what is now Sharonville in 1825. The first post office was established in Sharonville in 1830. The town grew rapidly during World War II due to its strategic location as a transportation hub on US-20 between Toledo and Columbus. After the war, many businesses closed down and much of the population left for other towns in central Ohio. However, some people kept living there until they were displaced by modernization processes that began around 1970 when Interstate 70 was built across the county lines. By 2000, most residents had moved away; only a few remain today (primarily retirees). Today, most residents are employed by local government or private industry; however, there are still some people who live hereabouts full time because it offers excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation including hiking/biking/camping/fishing/swimming; as well as good schools system including four high schools and one middle school which have reached fame through basketball and football championships played hereabouts throughout recent years (eclipsing those achieved by nearby more populous communities).

Sharonville is a small town in Hancock County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Sharonville was Elijah Hicks in 1812. The layout of the town was based on that of Chillicothe, Ohio and it incorporated as a village in 1827. | In 1829, demand for goods brought over the Lackawanna Railroad caused prices to rise so much that a restaurant called "The Gilded Cage" had to be built to handle the increased demand; this spot remains standing today as the only business still operating within Sharonville limits today. In 1853, when the US government created what would become Ohio's Twenty-Third District, it included all of Hancock County except for Sharonville. The residents of Sharonville voted to secede from their new district and form their own municipality known as Union Township (now part of Dayton). In 1861 due to land sales by President Abraham Lincoln during his visit to Ohio, most of eastern Hancock County became part of newly formed Springfield Township under federal ownership and jurisdiction which continues even to this day with minor changes: For instance, Union Township has been split into two parts once again - one lying east side near I-75 and one lying west side near I-375 - while Sharonville has remained unchanged ever since with its lone stoplight located at its current location next to Lebanon Elementary School. | With no major economic development taking place within town boundaries for years on end until around 1990 when grain prices started falling nationally and people began searching for places where they could get their hands on some locally produced food products again, local businesses slowly reopened but failed miserably at making any significant profit or establishing themselves beyond just selling groceries door-to-door either collectively or individually; however there have been numerous attempts made over recent years by various individuals who are passionate about history and preservationism within town limits (e.g., United We Stand!), although without success yet! Sharonville was originally a small community in the southern part of what is now Ohio. It was named after Sharon, a biblical figure who is known for her love of flowers. The first settler in Sharonville was James Blackstone, who arrived in 1806. Most of the town's early growth took place along the Scioto River. In 1821, Sharonville became one of the first towns in Ohio to be incorporated as a village. She later served as the capital city of Ohio from 1837 to 1840 and again from 1850 to 1860. In 1914, when Ohio became an independent state, Sharonville became its third capital city.
