Sharonville, Ohio is a small town of about 10,000 people located in the Mahoning Valley region of northeast Ohio. The town is situated on a major railroad line and has a busy commercial district near the intersection of I-70 and US-23. The population was 11,521 at the 2000 census. The first gun protection history in Sharonville comes from 1892 when two men named George and Samuel Bland bought land east of Sharonville to establish what would become known as the Bland Farm Gun Range. The Bland Farm Gun Range was one of the first places in America where people could buy firearms for personal use. It operated until 1969. In 1907, Wm Hildebrandt opened his store next door to George Bland's farmhouse and began selling firearms to local farmers and hunters. In 1915, Harry Shuler opened his store across the street from Wm Hildebrandt's store and began selling handguns to local law enforcement officials and individuals who needed safe storage for their weapons. In 1919, Joplin Electric Supply Co., which later became SHARP Inc., began selling handguns through its doors. In 1951, General Dynamics Corporation purchased SHARP Inc., which continued to operate as an independent company until it merged with Glock AG in 2007. At that time, Glock also became responsible for all handgun sales within SHARP Inc.'s boundaries. Today, GHK Firearms USA operates out of SHARP Inc.'s former headquarters on Main Street in Sharonville. Sharonville is a small town located in the Mentor-Elyria, Ohio area and has been around since 1851. The first settler in Sharonville was James Crouse, who arrived with his family in 1851. The town was named for Sharonfield, a farmstead near the village of Elyria. In 1868, the first school was built in Sharonville. The community experienced growth during the early 19th century as people from nearby towns came to work on farms and mine coal in the region. By 1860, there were only five families living in Sharonville. The population of Sharonville grew rapidly during the mid-19th century as new homes were constructed and businesses opened up. During this time period, the town became known for its rich agricultural produce and its renowned whisky production. In 1865, a post office was established in Sharonville and remained operative until it was discontinued in 1971. In 1870, one of the first churches to be erected in Mentor-Elyria was dedicated at Village Hall Square by Revs Geo Wills and Jno Hodge. During this time period, many buildings were constructed including two schools (the present day Shriners Hospital) a Methodist Episcopal church (dedicated on July 8th 1907), an oven company (founded by William Herrington), three stores (owned by Auld & Sons grocery store owners John Auld and William Herrington), a blacksmith shop (later renamed Blacksmith Shop & Forge Co.), three doctors' offices (one Female operated from 1861 until 1875; one Male operated from 1865 until 1901; one Male operated from 1902 until 1941), four postcards shops (Post Master Company - founded 1898), two Tin mines ("Iron Mines No 2" & "Iron Mines No 3"), six gas wells (sixteen well drilled between 1892-1896) and several residences including Mrs Crouse's home which stood until 1915 when it was replaced by an auto garage/service station now known as Whiteface Inn
