Sharonville experienced several waves of growth during its early years; by 1920, there were over 150 businesses in the town and more than 2,000 residents. The commercial sector attracted many factory workers from around the region during World War II; as war production increased, so did demand for jobs and housing within Sharonville. After the war ended, however, much of Sharonville's heavy industry disappeared along with it; few remain today except for a small number of antique stores and some homes that have been converted into apartments or condos. In recent decades there has been significant redevelopment taking place within Sharonville – most notably around Old High School which has seen major renovation/modification over time including two complete rebuilds (one in 2009-10 and one in 2016). New development has also taken form near Elm Street including an upscale restaurant/bar called L’Atelier de la France (opened February 2017) which anchors an upcoming mixed-use development adjacent to Interstate 270 known as "The Loop".
