Sharonville was founded in 1827 as a small town on the Scioto River. It grew rapidly during the 19th century, becoming a major commercial and industrial center. The city was incorporated in 1902, and its population topped 100,000 by 1920. However, economic decline began to take hold in the 1930s, and Sharonville fell behind other Ohio cities in terms of development. In the 1940s, however, it regained some of its lost prosperity through heavy industry and postwar reconstruction. By the early 1960s, however, Sharonville had largely fallen apart due to its links to organized crime and other social problems. In 1966 it was renamed Sharonville Heights after then-Mayor Marty Byrnes for his efforts to revive the community. Today, only a few districts within the city remain independent of wider metropolitan area trends.

Sharonville is a small town located in the state of Ohio. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named for Sharon Hill, which once stood near the present-day town line. The first settler in Sharonville was George Whetstone, who arrived in 1800. Other early residents included Joshua Chamberlain and his wife Hannah (née Lane). In 1802, James Fenton became the first postmaster in Sharonville and served until 1830. In 1834, Isaac Burchard founded a farm on what is now State Road 2A north of town. He named it North Branch Farm after his home place North Branch in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Burchard's farm continued to be run by descendants of him and his wife until 1949 when it was sold to Harry Siskel Jr., one of the founders of Interstate 765. In 1868, David Weisinger bought land east of town from Nicholas Goudreau for $5 per acre. Weisinger developed it into a large wheat field that he used as pasture for his cattle and hay crops for hisHis house remains standing today as Unit 3 on Main Street within Sharonville limits; it still has its original doors and windows! In 1886, local resident Frederick Haggerty built an iron mill on Mill Creek just south of where modern day Route 666 meets State Road 2A - this mill continues to operate today as United States Steel Corporation's Shamokin Works plant.. By 1896 there were about 20 houses in Sharonville with a population of 350 people living off agriculture alone! By 1930 there were only 10 houses remaining with a population of 100 people living off agriculture only! With the onset World War II, many farmers joined production work to provide income for their families while others took up other forms such as manufacturing or trade; however through all these changes some aspects have remained constant including agricultural production which played an important role during both world wars! After World War II ended most farmers left their homes/small businesses behind and began moving into larger villages or towns throughout Northeast Ohio; however some stayed behind such as David Weisinger who started farming again on new land 11 miles west of town along US 635 known then as Easton Township .. There are currently no active farms within city limits but much activity takes place around independent small businesses located east side arterial roads outside city limits
