By 1830, there were six families living in what is now Sharonville: Mr. Rossiter’s wife and four children; Mr. Getchell’s wife and two children; Jonas Weller’s family; and three others known only by their initial letters or numbers (the “Wellers”). In 1832, when Ohio became a state, settlers began moving into this area as well and various settlements were established over time including Warsaw (1835), Upper Arlington (1840), Westerburg (1845), Bellefontaine (1850), Moon Township (1855), Scioto Township (1860) and Athens Township (1862). In 1881, when Scioto Township split off from Athens Township to form its own municipality called Parkland Heights,[2] some residents decided to move to what is now Sharonville because they found its location more advantageous for agriculture than Parkland Heights did.[3] As soon as Parkland Heights went out of business during the1920s,[4] most residents chose not to follow suit but continue living in their original homes until they bought them back after being taken over by developers during the late 1940s/early 1950s[5][6]. On July 6th 1870,[7] George Washington Carman sold 2 acres [8] south of present day Maple Avenue eastward along High Street towards Union Road for $1 cash plus 4 hogsheads whiskey.[9][10][11] This land forms today's core of what is today called Carman Fields Shopping Center which still stands vacant despite many attempts by developers over the years to fill it up with flats or other uses whileasers have been built on top of it - one such project that actually caused environmental damage as a result:[12][13][14][15][16]). On November 3rd 1910,[17], John Witherspoon donated 5 acres [19] north-east of present day Elm Street between Cherry Hill Road and Waterloo Road for $100 cash plus 10 hogsheads whisky[20]. This property too forms today's core business district around Cedar Pointe Mall which currently occupies most of that space once occupied by Carman Fields Shopping Center although some development has occurred adjacent thereto such as construction on Clinton Drive which runs parallel thereto albeit without any connection whatsoever between those two sites).[21][22],[23]; however much work still needs to be done before Cedar Pointe Mall can truly become "sharonvillian" status quo ante!

The region that now encompasses Sharonville was first inhabited by the Lenape people who lived along the Scioto River. In 1788, when George Washington and his army invaded Pennsylvania, he and his forces passed through what is now Sharonville on their way to battle against the British. The area became part of Cincinnati after the American Revolution. In 1814, a group of settlers arrived in what is now Sharonville from West Chester Township. They were seeking land for themselves and their families and soon began to build homes. In 1824, they named their community after General James Kinkaid (1785-1868), an officer with General George Washington's army during the War of 1812. The town quickly grew and developed several businesses including harness shops and a tannery. In 1840, local residents voted to incorporate as a village. It would remain that way until becoming a town in 1902 when it adopted its present name of Sharonville."
Sharonville was founded in 1810 by Nicholas Sharon and his family. The first post office in the town was established in 1812. In 1815, the town became a village. In 1827, the village became a municipality. On December 15, 1951, the city of Sharonville merged with the Village of Bellefontaine to form one large community.
