Sharonville, Ohio is home to the Rock Island Arsenal, one of the most important cannon-manufacturing centers in the United States. The arsenal was established in 1814 and has been responsible for building some of the world’s most famous cannons, such as the M1 Garand rifle and the .50 Westinghouse cartridge. Over time, other armories have been built nearby, including one on State Road 419 that closed down in 1984. Today, only a few relics from this once sizable arsenal remain: a small piece of artillery shell found near the Arsenal complex and an interesting relic called the “Pumpkin Patch” which was used by gunners to place rounds into breechblocks before firing.

The first powder magazine in Sharonville was built by George W. Burgess in 1892. The following year, the United States Patent and Trademark Office registered a revolver with an 8-round revolving cylinder called the Sharps Rifle. This revolver was designed by Samuel Colt and it featured a metal case that held two rounds of Winchester rifle ammunition.
Sharonville is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located about 20 miles north-northwest of Dayton and 30 miles east of Cincinnati. The population was 2,829 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Scioto River and is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1801 by fur traders and settlers from Canada who named it after Mount Sharon in Ontario, Canada. The first post office was established in 1802, and the name changed to Sharonville in 1824 after John Prentice's home thereabouts. In 1827, some local people petitioned for township status; but when this proposal failed to gain approval from the Township Board, they petitioned for city status instead. This Request for Proposal (RFP) became an ordinance passed by the city council on July 1,1828; and on October 3rd *the same year*, Sharonville became a City with its own charter & government! The first mayor of Sharonville was James Hickey* (1828-30). From 1840 until his death in 1865, Mayor John Jarratt served as head of the Borough Council which had 5 members*. In 1861 Mayor George Lapp organized a municipal fire department; Councilmember Lapp directed that all services be furnished through one agency rather than multiple agencies each providing individual service (* *.Councilman Lapp died suddenly while attending a meeting* *. ). On November 3rd 1865 Mayor Jarratt resigned effective date due to poor health* *. His successor was David Beal (1866-69)* [* *.He also served as acting mayor during December 1889 – January 1890 due to Nathan Bedford Forrest's absence]. In 1886 Mayor James Watt appointed Abram Sanger as Deputy Collector District No. 4† [* *Please see attached photo taken circa 1888 showing Mr Abram Sanger holding his proclamation authorizing incorporation into City of Sharonville’s Department] . Under Mayor Sanger’s administration large numbers of new homes were built: over 400 dwellings were erected between 1886 & 1893(* [* *.Please see attached photo taken circa 1893 depicting downtown buildings with newly constructed structures such as school building #2 being visible]) . New businesses opened up including two banks: The Bankers Trust Company and The National Bank (now First NationalBank) both established in 1889(* [* *.First NationalBank building now occupied by Goodyear Tire & Rubber company]). One interesting development during this time period was that local farmers began to sell their crops directly to consumers rather than going through middlemen (* *) On December 8th 1895 *Sharonville* along with Adams County got their hands on territorial power when President Cleveland granted them independence from Cincinnati under Act 7 Of 1898† [* *This particular act gave us our present name as we are known today!] After years dedicated to developing our community we celebrate our 125th anniversary this year! Cannonballs were made out of lead, bronze, iron or other heavy materials and they would travel large distances before exploding. This caused immense damage to infrastructure and properties throughout Europe during the 16th century. During the 18th century, ammunition production moved from Europe to North America in order to help support the American Revolution. In 1775, powder magazine rifles were invented in America in order to provide firepower for the Continental army during their war against Great Britain. This new type of rifle allowed soldiers to fire rounds continuously without having to reload frequently
The first modern cartridge was developed in 1847 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and named the "Century Arms Metallic Cartridge" (CAM). It consisted of a metal case filled with powder, shot, and saltpeter. The design was inspired by the invention of the gunpowderprimer. The CAM was used on muzzle-loading pistols and rifles, but it did not gain much usage until the early 19th century because of its high cost.
Sharonville is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo metropolitan area. The Sharonville post office has been in operation since 1852. The town was named for Sharon Herndon, who fought in the American Revolutionary War and later became an officer in the state government of Ohio. In 1836, Herndon donated land to become what is now Sharonville Township. The township's first buildings were built on this land. In 1854, the village of Sharonville was founded adjacent to what is now Sharonville Township and it continued to be served by the same post office until 1903 when it merged with neighboring Uniontown. In 1902, a bridge was constructed over the Shiawassee River between Uniontown and Sharonville which led to increased trade and commerce between these towns. This Bridge also helped increase population growth as people started commuting into larger cities such as Toledo and Cleveland due to new transportation options available through this bridge. One of the most famous residents of both Uniontown and Sharonville during this time period was General George Washington Carver who grew up inUniontown before moving to Michigan City where he began his agricultural career. The decline of manufacturing throughout much of America during World War II had a significant impact on these towns as their only industry was agriculture which stopped producing jobs in 1945 after war-time regulations made farming less profitable than other industries at that time (i.e., large organizations). However, local businesses did revive small businesses such as Atomic Energy Commission laborer training center located near downtown that employed around 60 people from 1951-1957 when it closed because no new customers could be found for its services after years without any work occurring there; this center symbolized revitalization for downtown cores across central Ohio following World War II.). As manufacturing declined throughout much of America during World War II due to wartime restrictions – especially aluminum production – many people moved back into farming or other traditional economic activities within these towns resulting in more housing development outside those core areas beginning around 1960s onwards although some older homes still remain standing today within walking distance of most main commercial districts within town limits today despite being well into their 30s or 40s decades old! Sharonville was founded in 1814 by James Weldon and his wife, Mary. The town was named for the Sharon mountain range that separates Ohio from Pennsylvania. The first settler in Sharonville was John White. In 1830, the town had a population of seventy-six and it grew to one thousand by 1850. By 1870, the population of Sharonville had grown to five hundred fifty-eight.
