The first settler in Seven Hills was George Stephenson in 1814. He built a log cabin on the banks of the Scioto River. The town was named after seven hills that were visible from his farmstead: Delaware, Yorktown Heights, Monastery Hill, Overlook Hill, Valley Forge Ridge, and Washington Heights. The first post office was established in 1865 and it changed its name to Seven Hills in 1868 because of the growth of neighboring Columbiana Township. The first school was built in 1870 and it became a high school in 1930. In 1907 Seventy-Sixth Street (later Old US 71) was widened for vehicular traffic and renamed Mustang Boulevard; this made Seven Hills one of only two U.S. towns with an automobile route served by both an expressway and main road simultaneously

Seven Hills is a small town in the heart of Ohio, located in Muskingum County. It is home to the largest concentration of German-Americans in the United States and their descendants. They built a log cabin on a hilltop and named it Seven Hills because they numbered seven families who had come there. The first school in Seven Hills was opened in 1836. In 1915, Mr. John Ladd donated land for an elementary school which became Three Rivers Elementary School. In 1955, Seven Hills incorporated as a village and began to grow rapidly with new businesses opening up such as convenience stores, churches and doctor's offices. In 1970, the village celebrated its centennial with a celebration that included festivities such as an ice cream social at the old high school building and street parade through downtown Seven Hills. In 2001,Seven Hills merged with neighboring Perrysburg into one municipality which continues to thrive today thanks to its close-knit community spirit

The first school in Seven Hills was built in 1837, and the first doctor was Dr. David Rankin. In 1846, Seven Hills became an official state town and was renamed to Ironton after Ironton, Michigan.
