Seven Hills is a town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portsmouth–Wilmington, OH-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now includes Seven Hills was first settled by Germans in the early 1800s. In 1837, John Beech and his familyPurchase land from the Indians for $4 per acre (equivalent to ). They named their new home "Emmalah" after one of their female slaves. In 1842, they sold their farm and moved to what is now Seven Hills Township. By 1830, white settlers had started moving into this area; One hundred families bought land from General David Steuben for $6 per acre (equivalent to ). A post office called Emmalah was established in 1837, but it failed to take off and was closed in 1840. The township was formed on March 15, 1846 when it split from Columbiana County. The name of the town honor General Ulysses S Grant who fought during the American Civil War as an aide-de-camp to President Abraham Lincoln. When Grant died on October 12,1865 at age 81 years old at Fort Donelson near Chattanooga Tennessee he left behind a legacy of service which included providing education for African Americans in America through the US Military Academy at West Point and opening up Indian Territory to settlement by non-Indian Americans via executive order No 10892 on February 14th 1865 known as "The great empty tract." In spite of some problems with flooding caused by heavy rains throughout much of 2007/2008 Seven Hills experienced its most recent major flood event when water levels peaked on August 30th 2008 rising rapidly due largely to heavy rain bringing down trees along with homes and businesses within minutes creating a devastating effect across much of rural Columbiana County affecting more than 3000 residents displacing over 50 people losing access to essential services including drinking water and schools even those living upstream were unable or unwilling or unable or not able venture out using boats etc leading many people staying put until late September 2008 finally evacuating around midnight on September 4th 08 confirmin full extent river crossing process begun

In 1816, the Post Office moved to its current location on the corner of Sherman and Mount Vernon Roads, and 7 Hills became an incorporated village. The village had a population of only around 100 people until it grew rapidly with the arrival of railroad developers in the late 19th century. By 1900, 7 Hills had reached a population of 4,000 people and by 1990, it had more than 10,000 residents. The village has been declining since then, but it remains an important community in southwestern Ohio.
