Seven Hills, Ohio is a census-designated place (CDP) in the United States state of Ohio. As of the 2010 census, the population was 22,827. The CDP covers an area of 11.1 square miles (29 km2). The name "Seven Hills" was given to the community by General George Washington and his forces during their occupation of Fort Pitt in 1794. The town was laid out in 1814 by Colonel John Mason and named for seven hills that stood near the original town site - four on the Allegheny River and three on Mount Vernon Hill. These hills were so named because they extended from what is now downtown Seven Hills to Brush Creek Township to its east; White Clay Township to its west; and North Canton Township to its north. The first permanent settler in Seven Hills was Nicholas Boynton who built a cabin on Brush Creek Road in 1818. He later became one of the most prominent citizens in the community and donated land for a school, churches, stores, roads, mills and other needs around which a new town grew. By 1830 Seven Hills had over 50 residents and two schools were operational: One taught children between ages 5-12 while another served as an academy for older students from nearby surrounding townships. In 1836 Union Major General David Hunter burned down part of Fort Pitt due to Confederate sympathies – this event helped spur development within Seven Hills as many realized that if they could take away Fort Pitt's Plateau stronghold then perhaps much importance would be given to helping garrison Pittsburgh rather than giving it up completely! With a history dating back to 1813 as a small trading post on the Great Lakes region's Frontier Trail, Seven Hills has continuously grown since incorporation as a town in 1907. In recent years it has become an economic center for southeastern Stark County and parts of northern Lucas County. The area now known as Seven Hills was first settled by Europeans in 1813 when fur traders from Canada arrived at what is now called Milliken Creek junction near present-day seven hills. By 1830 most of what is today Seven Hills had been organized into two towns: Hudson (later renamed Easton) and Stroudsburg (now North Canton). The first village government was formed in 1833 when settlers petitioned for charter #5 from Ottawa Township, which had been created that year. That same year Seven Hills became part of Stroudsburg Township because its residents desired to follow their local physician to nearby Cleveland where he had built his medical practice. The early growth of Seven Hills took place around three square miles (8 km2) within what are now downtown Streetsboro and east side residences along Second Avenue between Euclid Road and Market Street; these were founded by Nathan Sibley with 160 acres (65 ha) grant from George Washington Carver on July 16, 1835. At this time there were no schools or churches located within the limits proposed for Nine Mile Point Township north of Hudson township line; however some pioneer families did send children to school at Hudson Schoolhouse until about 1840 when that facility burned down due to fire damage sustained during a severe thunderstorm late one winter evening.. Sibley died intestate leaving his land grants largely undisturbed until February 7th, 1886 when David Biddle purchased title deed #1 from Sibley's widow Anna Grant for $3 cash plus $1 per acre subject to future sale... On October 15th1886 Mr Biddle erected frame house on lot donated by Mrs Grant & moved into home 8 months later Dec 6th 1886... Today building still stands just off E Main Street across street from First Baptist Church
