However, it wasn't until after Mr. Chapman's death that the town started receiving government funding for its schools which eventually led to enrollment growth over time and construction of more schools throughout town until finally founding its current high school system in 1959/1960 with Mr.. George Wirth as superintendent; Dr.. James Pendergast as assistant superintendent; Mrs.. Ollie Jahnke as teacher; Msgr.. Gerard Ryan as aide de camp (latermaster) In 1865 when Holmes County was created out of what were then Holmes County and Butler County, part of what is now Holmes Township formed part of Butler Township while still part of Stark Township which had been established by Order No.: 9 from November 3rd 1824 through December 15th 1825 .
