Sandusky, Ohio is a town located in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 11,021 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sandusky was founded in 1814 by Germans who settling in what is now Butler County. The first post office was established in 1815. In 1827, the town became a county seat and remained so until 1959 when it became an unincorporated community within Butler County. As of the 2010 census, there were 11,021 people living in Sandusky Township and 2,719 living in Sandusky Borough. Of those residents 10% are Hispanic or Latino of any race; this number increases to 15% for those over age 65 years old. The median household income for all residents is $46,924 which includes both low and high income categories as well as single parents with children under age 18 living on their own incomes. Additionally 38% of households have homeownership while 56% use public transportation to get to work; 5% walk or bike to work According to the 2000 US Census Bureau report "The People of Butler County", 83% of residents identify themselves as white Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASP). 7% identify themselves as black American Indian/Alaska Native (BANAI), 3% as either Asian Pacific Islander (AAPI) or African American (AFrican Americans make up about 1%). 0-4 year olds are almost evenly split between WASP/WASP+/-2%, BANAI/AAPI+, and other races combined (3%); however since 2005 4-12 year olds have overwhelmingly identified themselves with WASP (+/-5%). 74 percent of adults born after 1945 identify themselves as white Anglo-Saxon Protestant while only 22 percent answer that question affirmatively according to 2000 US Census data Accordingly Child Protective Services services play a very important role within society hereabouts especially during these tough economic times due to increased demand from families seeking help with raising children during hard times such as these When I think about my ancestors who came before me I am reminded how much they have shared with me and how much they continue to contribute not just today but through their memories long after we are gone My greatgreatgrandfather Neddermeyer immigrated from Germany around 1800s along with his family specifically because he wanted some land where he could start anew . He looked around at all the available land eastward from Detroit Lakes including what is now Sandusky and decided this would be his home grounds because it had been part of his homeland for so many years already In 1814 when our township was organized we also purchased 640 acres surrounding present day Uniontown Township from John Doherty - one of our original settlers That same year we set up shop on Main Street opposite Stroudsburg Presbyterian church making us one half mile southeast of where today’s Uniontown situates itself today back then everything was new so no streets were named yet like ours graciously Mr Doherty renamed them after himself including “Moses” street which still exists today name that stuck probably because most everyone associated him with that early business venture too .There wasn’t even a telephone line then let alone electricity back then so if you wanted something done you had to go out and get it yourself usually someone else did it for you even if it meant doing without sometimes life didn’t always offer simple answers anymore like water or light but rather effort plus faith often got results right eventually being able finally build our village homes on Main Street near where East High School now stands

Sandusky, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio that is best known for the scandal involving former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky. The town has also been called "The Birthplace of America" and "The City of Dreams." The first settler in what is now Sandusky was John Wesley Hardin who arrived in 1795. In 1801, George Washington visited the area and named it after himself, which made it one of his favorite spots to travel to when he was president. In 1812, another pioneer, Ebenezer Cooke, built a cabin here and other early settlers included Simon Gaddis (1820), James McNaught (1825), Isaac Norris (1830), Michael Hogan (1835), John Fenton (1840), Lemuel Greenlawyer (1846) and David Prentice (1850). In 1840-41, two groups of men from Pennsylvania came down the Scioto River on horseback looking for land to settle. One group led by captain John Harris located a parcel of land on what is now North High Street in Sandusky. They named their new settlement Harrisburg after their leader. The second group under direction of Samuel Morse decided to call their new settlement Pittsburg because they thought that Philadelphia would be the next city to become an American capital. At first the two settlements were close together but soon differences arose between them over issues such as religion and tax laws. Ultimately, Harrisburg became the capital whilePittsburg fell behind because it did not have a congressional district assigned to it like Philadelphia did. In 1847, Captain John Hardin erected a log courthouse here which served as the legal center for all Upper Darby Township until 1938 when this function was transferred to nearby Youngstown because that township had more residents then Upper Darby at that time. In 1850-51 Captain Hardin established post office here with Jno Prentiss serving as its first postmaster AfterCaptainJohnHardin's death in 1850 he was succeeded by his son-in-law Moses Hocking who also served as postmaster for many years before moving upriver into Wirt County where he died in 1908 Hocking's successor Andrew Mellon took over responsibilities at postoffice during World War I before retiring in 1939 After Mellon's retirement mail service returned to Youngstown under Captains William Biddle and Harry Sibley until 1945 when responsibility passed back again to Lower Darby Township . After 1945 township government functions were handled by 3 commissioners elected at large with no regard for party lines until 1978 when Republican Commissioners Bob Kappan and Dick Simpson took over control . From 1978 until 2002 Democratic Commissioners Josephine Whitehead and Rich Fitzgerald filled these positions while Republican Commissioners Larry Hagopian vacated their posts effective January 1st 2003 . After Hagopian resigned Effective January 1st 2003 Whitehead became acting commissioner with full authority pending appointment by Governor Voight
Sandusky is a town in the Cincinnati metropolitan area, west of downtown and north of the University of Cincinnati campus. The population was 27,781 at the 2010 census. It has been part of Ohio since 1796. In 1837, Sandusky became an incorporated village. In 1892, after years of debate between the village and city governments over which should control education in the town, sandusky's first school was built on South High Street by Samuel Tilden. In 1907, when Cincinnati annexed Sandusky as its own municipality, it offered to annex the village if both municipalities could agree to merge their police departments into one unit. The merger did not take place because Village president Walter Wray believed that providing services for both communities would have been too costly and time-consuming. The current name for Sandusky is derived from its location on what is now called Seventh Street east of West Third Avenue: "Sandusky" means "settlement near a watercourse." On July 1, 1922 – just before becoming a city – Sandusky renamed itself with the addition of the word "Ohio."
