One of early businesses here was Elias Wistar's grocery store (1863-1967), which became one of Akron's earliest department stores and remains open today as Wistar's Village Shopping Center(). Wistar also operated an engine shop until 1903 when he retired due to age restrictions placed on apprenticeship then becoming just one among many machine shops throughout the city (). Other early businesses include J & G Lumber Co., Stone Pharmacy (founded 1865 by Drs subscribed Elisha Graystone) and P hap p erry Corporation (established 1865). These days most important business establishments are Summit Chevrolet Inc., Summit Tire & Rubber Co., Park Place Inn restaurant chain (), two insurance companies () and three real estate firms (). In 1907 increasing numbers of families moved into Rocky River starting what would become known as "the Builder Boom". This migration included farmers who began growing corn, beans, potatoes and other agricultural products; engineers who founded various manufacturing plants such as Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (); businessmen who established banks; religious figures such as Methodists pastor Elijah Moore (); Italian immigrants coming through Danville;; Scots-Irish Presbyterians moving away from their homeland on horseback called Cumberland Gap () etc.; all aimed at creating new opportunities for hardworkingOhioans during an era when joblessness (%) reached 25%. However despite this burst of entrepreneurship much progress could not be made including ratification of statehood by Congress following World War I without more aggressive action being taken to address poverty/lack thereof ;; despite having a highly educated community leadership including physicians Drs Moses Mims () Edwin Thomas (), Augustus Kappmeyer (), Alfred Lerner (); Julius Rosenwald ; banker Nathan Cummings ; industrialist Sidney Hillman ; auto manufacturer Henry Ford Jr.; construction workers Hiram De Wittand George Healy;; teachers Mrs Clara Reuther (); Mrs Eva Sprague;; students Edward Schieffer,, Edwin Bickerton,, Harold Bloomquist And others Ulysses S Grant
