Riverside, Ohio is a small town in the heart of the Buckeye State. The population was 8,683 at the 2010 census. It is located just east of Columbus and west of Akron on the Allegheny River. The first European to visit what is now Riverside was Father Matteo da Vincenzo in 1569. He named it after his birthplace, Vicenza, Italy. In 1797, General George Rogers Clark founded a post office here and named it for himself as he journeyed through the area on his survey of western Ohio. Over time, other post offices have been established here including: 1826 – Cincinnati; 1829 – Dayton; 1830 – Youngstown; 1835 - Erie; 1840 – Cleveland; 1845 – Butler County (now Lucas County). Bordering these towns are several villages: Beavercreek (to the north), Greektown (to the east), West Chester (to the south-east), and South Euclid (to the south-west). In 1916, when Ohio became a state, Riverside became part of Scioto County. The county seat moved from West Chester to Xenia in 1924 and then to Battle Creek in 1933. In 1970 or 1971, that courthouse burned down which caused great concern because not only did this cause significant loss but also because it had been used as an auditorium by local high school students during halftime home games since its construction in 1926! In 2007-2008 two projects were undertaken within Riverside— renovation of Chautauqua Park’s gymnasium and installation of new asphalt sidewalks throughout town—raising funds for beautification projects that include replacement or rehabilitation of bricks around all water fountains, streetlights and lamp posts throughout town as well as repairs to somehistoric homes/buildings within town limits while also coordinating with city departments responsible for Streets & Infrastructure functions such as landscape maintenance etc…. These projects brought much needed attention to what had become anemic economy in addition to making downtown Riverside more inviting for pedestrians especially during summer months….. Today there are many businesses open late including several bars/restaurants along with numerous convenience stores/grocery stores like CVS Pharmacy., Kroger., Safeway., GNC., Walmart., JCPenney's®, Starbucks®, Subway®, Papa John's Pizza*, Dunkin' Donuts®* (* except Dunkin' Donuts inside Chautauqua Park Gymnastics Stadium) among others

Riverside is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the Scioto River. The population was 9,794 at the 2010 census. Riverside was founded in 1811 as a small settlements on the Scioto River, and became a city in 1903. It is the county seat of Putnam County. The name "Riverside" comes from two sources: one originates from French ( Roche-sur-Loire), meaning "river of runnels", and another derives from Italian (Riva-sur-Lario), meaning "hillock by the river". The first settlement at what is now Riverside was called Riva delle Cinque Terre because it included five hills that looked like an image of five terriers culled together to form one dog token - this site still stands today as part of downtown Riverside. In 1811, when Ohio became part of the United States, General George Rogers Clark explored and laid out a new capital for Ohio onthe Scioto River near modern day Cincinnati after finding that Pittsburgh had failed to become adequately self-reliant due to its location on crossed rivals' rivers – York and Allegheny – while Columbus was too distant for trade with other parts of Europe and America's Indian populations were Gougerstown traders who did not want their goods taken advantage of by potential competitors such as Philadelphia or Baltimore which lay just upstream along the Monongahela River where commerce could be conducted more effectively . After much debate among his colleagues about where to put his new capital, Clark selected what is now Riverside because it adjoined present day Putnam County on both banks of the river and its clear water caused few problems with Native Americans living nearby who thought they were under threat from American settlers seeking land east of those waters . The area around modern day Riverside had been inhabited by Shawnees before Europeans arrived but most likely took up residency only during times when merchants could cross overland to purchase goods from them or take captives during wars between neighboring tribes
Riverside was founded in 1795 by Colonel George Washington and his soldiers during the French and Indian War. The town was named for the river that ran through it. It became a village in 1805, and an incorporated town in 1836. The population of Riverside increased to 10,000 by 1888, but decreased to 3,500 by 1920. The population of Riverside peaked at 11,800 in 1930, but declined to 2,700 by 1940.
