Riverside is a town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,552 at the 2010 census. Riverside is located on the Scioto River and includes parts of the cities of Lebanon and Weirton. The first settler in what is now Riverside was John Fenton, who arrived in 1784 from London, England. He named his new community "Riverside" after a small stream near his home.Fenton's heirs sold most of the land to other settlers between 1800 and 1810; only about 6 acres (2 hectares) remained undeveloped until 1836 when government surveyors laid out a road through what is now Riverside as part of their plans for developing Columbiana County. In 1836, Joshua Hays donated land to build a courthouse and school district; this area became known as "Haysville." In 1860, William Crouse donated land to create an observatory; this area became known as "Crouse Park." In 1870, Horace Mann donated land to build a waterworks; this area became known as "Mann lake." A railroad was built through Riverside in 1879 and later renamed the Scioto Valley Railroad. -In 1907, during World War I, American troops burned down much of downtown Riverside because they were Tasseled for not reporting for duty early enough. -On October 15th 1923 by order of President Franklin D Roosevelt,, all public schools in the United States were closed due to concerns over gasoline rationing which had begun two days earlier

The first European to visit what is now Riverside was Francisco de Miranda on September 8, 1565. He sighted a group of rivers and called them "Rio Conflito" (RIVER CONFLICT). The name probably comes from an Iroquois word meaning 'western tributary'. A post office called Riverside was established in 1837, but it remained inactive for many years. In 1868, John C. Frémont explored the area and named it after his older brother Moses Frémont (1769-1844), who had died while exploring California in 1849. Moses had been sent by President James K. Polk to explore Oregon Territory before its admission into the United States as the 49th state on November 6, 1850. In 1870–71 Samuel Morse built a railroad through Geauga County from Marietta to Dayton and placed an advertisement in The Cincinnati Enquirer announcing that trains would start running May 1st each year at 5:00 a.m., racing against horseback riders carrying goods upriver to Cleveland marketplaces along the way; this began what would become known as "Morse Train Days". When workers building a new Toledo Edison plant discovered fresh water power available near Riverside they extended their line 3 miles upstream to supply that company's lights throughout Greater Cleveland; this also began what became known as "Greater Cleveland River Waterpower Days". In 1903–04 McKnight built an electric rail line between Newark Liberty International Airport and Pioneer Park east of downtown Detroit with hopes of attractinganta flight operations from World War I onward; this also began what became known as "Detroit River Railroad Day". In 1906 Jerome Heminway developed commercial land west of downtown Riverside which he leased to J & L Railway Company for development into fields around what is now Midtown Detroit; this beginningalled "Midtown Detroit" boom period which continued until 1946 when suburban housing developments started moving in nearby including Fraser Heights and White Marshfield.. In 1915 Ewing Waddell purchased 2 square miles (4 km²) north of MidtownDetroit from Michigan Central Railway Company for $6,000 (). This site became home to Waddell's Mills until 1942 when it burned down due to arson by local children following their parents' prohibitionist beliefs about masturbation being sinful because sex could lead people away from God's Way life style (). After World War II most mills closed except Waddell's Mills which continued operated until 1984..
