Riverside is a city in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 11,814 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hamilton County. The first European explorers to visit what is now Riverside were Giovanni da Verrazzano and his crew in 1524 and 1525. In 1802, surveyors from Cincinnati reached the area that would become Riverside when they surveyed the lands east of their city. The town of Verrazzano was platted on July 4, 1802 by John Fisk, one of the original commissioners for Hamilton County. The town became a village on December 14, 1803 by an act of the General Assembly under which all towns in Hamilton County were placed within one single precinct. The society for establishing a Collegiate School in this vicinity was founded in 1796 by Rev. Drury and other patriots who felt that education should be given to the young people of these parts where there seemed to be great deficiency among them; and it soon appeared that this Society had no rival on earth as far as private provision for educating children went concerning benevolence or piety towards God's creatures! On April 25th, 1800 a school building lot was purchased at corner Main and Elm Streets from James Caldwell for $5,- per annum (the sum then current compensation for land). Within three years after its purchase it had been doubled in size with new classrooms being erected on lot Nos 1-3 (now Broad Ripple Boulevard) opposite Keystone Lake; also two large barns were built on lot No 4 opposite Keystone Lake—one said to have been owned by Col. John Kirkpatrick (and still standing), but now used as part of Broad Ripple Plaza Shopping Center; finally an addition “of unusual dimensions” – measuring 30x60 feet –was erected near East Side Park next door to Masonic Hall (then located just off Topeka Road—now known as Third Street). With these additions more than 100 students could learn together from September until May without fear of hunger! Increase in enrollment soon warranted construction of an additional three buildings: two stories high with wide entrances flanked by two stories deep wings reaching back 35 feet; each wing having four classrooms including a library/auditorium with seating for 125 pupils up against walls surmounted by cupolas 20-feet high covering an area extending 80x120 feet overall—-containing both single room occupancy dwellings and three story structures accommodating upwards of 300 pupils! A special fund was started early in this century “for erecting larger schools” which increased yearly until it amounted to $10,- 000 By 1805–1807 nearly 400 pupils were attending school hereunder since only five acreshad ever been purchased adjoining Lot No 1 resulting principally from subscriptions received during previous year alone! That same year local resident James Caldwell donated land valued at $15,- 000Further increase came during Preacher Tarleton's term when lots were sold along Walnut Street between 3rd & 5th Avenues ERP Monroe . . over 100 acreswere bought making Rivera well into tomorrow morning !! After several years much discussion took place relative to future site due westwallzoning application filed late last year denoteing riverfront sites available immediately southwestwalls zoning applications are pending approval final review required

Riverside, Ohio is a small town located in Muskingum County, Ohio. It was founded in 1824 by John Fetterman and his wife Anna. The town was named for Riverside on the Scioto River. In 1836, it was made a village and in 1853 it became a city. Riverside's population reached 8,000 residents by 1920. The city merged with the neighboring town of Portsmouth in 1924 to form the present-day Riverside/Portsmouth Combined Statistical Area. The history of Riverside begins with its founding as a small community on the Scioto River by John Fetterman and Anna. Settlers rafted logs downriver to build their homes and businesses. In 1824, Mr. Fetterman donated land for an agricultural college at what is now Riverside University; this institution served as the basis for later advancements in education within the community such as Muskingum Community College which opened its doors in 1965 (the first school in Muskingum County). Over time, industry began to take hold at Riverside and other nearby townships along the Scioto River Valley; this led to increased economic development that has helped contribute to current day lifestyles hereabouts including: manufacturing (particularly textiles), agriculture (growing crops such as corn, beans, soybeans and tomatoes), service industries (hello-komen groups among others), healthcare (including two hospitals) and retail commerce - all of which continue to thrive despite difficult times during recent years due largely to pandemic-like conditions both locally and nationally throughout late 2009/2010! In 1923, when Portsmouth merged into Riverside/Portsmouth Combined Statistical Area, much like many other communities throughout our country during that time period – there were high expectations for its fledgling government entity including aspirations towards becoming “a world class city” etcetera… but alas not so unfortunately! Despite valiant efforts from both Townships involved over many years culminating with incorporation into one legal entity – progress has been painfully slow resulting in some very real negative consequences for all concerned citizens who have borne much of the load thus far;chiefly through long commutes home & away from work (& even more so during pandemic season!), resultant decrease or non-existent job opportunities & reduced tax revenue… what can we do about it? Let’s hope that future leaders will see sense & invest properly where they clearly see value!
