Lee while he lay dying at his home in Lexington, Virginia. General Lee's coffin passed through Richmond Heights on its way from Lexington to Charlottesville Cemetery before being interred there on April 12th 1865. In 1870, Jethro Gibbs founded the Jethro Gibbs Brewery near what is now known as Green Street and First Avenue South in Richmond Heights. The brewery produced many products such as beer and soft drinks until it closed down around 1980s when Prohibition came into effect across America.
