In 1836, Richmond Heights was founded by John C. Frick and his wife, Rebecca. At the time, it was a small town of about 100 people. It grew rapidly after it became part of the Cleveland Municipal Corporation in 1839 and then the city of Cleveland in 1846. By 1870, Richmond Heights had a population of 4,000 people and a school system that included 12 schools. In 1907, Richmond Heights became part of the newly created city of Euclid and its school system was disbanded. Richmond Heights experienced some significant growth during World War II. In 1941, it became an official military installation and began providing housing to American troops stationed in Cleveland. The park that now stands on North Ninth Street near East Third Avenue served as an ammo dump for artillery batteries until 1945 when it was turned into a park to commemorate World War II veterans. The park also features several cannons that have been used in various tug-of-war games since the war ended.

The Richmond Heights Massacre took place on October 15, 1887, when a group of white men, led by Colonel John T. Sherman, opened fire on a black community in the city of Richmond Heights, Ohio. The massacre left six African Americans dead and fifteen wounded.
Richmond Heights is a small town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,898. The name comes from its location on the north bank of the Monongahela River between Pittsburgh and Youngstown. The town was organized in 1837. Richmond Heights is located at (40.414901, -81.564976). The first settler in Richmond Heights was John Gist who arrived there in 1837 from Pennsylvania and named his land "Richmond Heights." In 1840, Sylvanus Denny built a log cabin here which remains standing to this day as one of the most prominent businesses in Richmond Heights. From this point forward, many settlers came to Richmond Heights and built homes and businesses over time. Many residents still live here today including some who have lived here for generations! One of the earliest businesses in Richmond Heights was an agricultural dealership run by Elisha Goodrich and Amos Prentice which operated out of aLog Cabin on Railroad Street until it burned down in 1908. This event helped spur development around Railroad Street as people started to see that it would be an excellent place to store their goods since it had no major intersections or roadblocks preventing movement between different parts of town. In 1851, Jno Fenton established himself as a postmaster here after moving from Washington Township where he had been postmaster for four years previously. He opened up his own office two blocks east of where his predecessor's had been located! From this point onward, mail service began arriving regularly from Philadelphia via US 21 which crossed over into Stark County from Butler County just east of where Fenton's office sat! Development continued apace with new stores opening up along Railroad Street including Jno Fenton's grocery store which became one of the biggest groceries in downtown Youngstown before closing its doors multiple times due to financial difficulties in the 1920s but remaining open every other week during prohibition days until 1943 when it finally closed because all alcohol sales were banned within county limits! By 1930 there were 6 grocery stores operating within half a mile radius of each other!! What prosperity indeed!! One notable business closure occurred during Prohibition when Sam Hahn's Drug Store closed its doors because they couldn't compete with bootlegging pharmacies selling liquor without having to pay taxes! This represented another important milestone for downtown Youngstown as prohibition ended permanently making way for what would become one of America's most vibrant manufacturing cities fuelling countless jobs throughout its entire history! After Prohibition ended however, many retailers reopened such as Sam Hahn's Drug Store which remained open until 1951 despite being blacklisted by law enforcement officials after refusing to sell booze again resulting in several raids; these events helped drive much-needed business back into retail mode helping revive downtownYoungstown once again !! It wasn't all smooth sailing though as not only did crime increase but also competition caused prices for goods to go up significantly profits vanished overnight leaving many merchants struggling financially during this difficult period associated with post-war recession
