Reynoldsburg is a small town in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in what is now Reynoldsburg was made on July 12, 1788 by Christopher Reynolds and his family. The name "Reynoldsburg" was derived from a location called "Reno" on the Great Lakes where Christopher Reynolds had been fishing when he became aware of an area that would be suitable for settlement. He named the new community in honor of John Adams, who had recently become US President. With few exceptions all of the early settlers were farm families with cattle, pigs and horses as their primary means of livelihood. In 1814 local surveyor Jacob Brown recorded that there were only three houses in Reynoldsburg - one occupied by Daniel Gorman and two others used as stores or barns for cows and other animals around the corner from Gorman's house. A year later Abraham Metzger built a log cabin on East Main Street which served as home toMetzger & Co., Merchants Post Office until 1865 when it burned down. When Ohio became a state in 1803 many residents left for Indiana Territory because of its much better economy and opportunities for land ownership than what they experienced in Ohio. However some continued to live in Reynoldsburg including John Merrill who lived there until his death in 1857; Isaac Sibley who owned land adjacent to present day Schoolhouse Road; Jno Haggerty who built a sawmill on Pigeon Creek; Hiram Smith (Hiram Smith’s Mill) who ran an inn near town water tower duringthe late 1800’s-early 1900’s; Wm Haggerty (Wm Haggerty’s Store) who operated a general store about two miles east of town from 1868 until his death in 1902; James Chappell (James Chappell Store) operating an accountancy business from about 1870 until 1916; Averil Greenough operated her grocery store till her death around 1918-1919 and finally Fannie Blankenship operated her bakery shop “Fannie Blankenship Bake Shop” continuously since 1951 after Fannie's husband passed away In 1951 Mrs Blankenship closed up shop due to economic recession but reopened it again less than 2 years later as “Fannie's Bakery & Cafe” still running today with over 150 employees Sheridan High School which opened its doors Fall 2014 occupies most of 1 block NE corner lot between 2nd St NW and 3rd St NW

Reynoldsburg is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, founded in 1812 by Colonel James Reynolds and his family. The population was 20,422 at the 2010 census. The town was named after Sir John Reynolds, 1st Baronet of Darnley who died in 1792. The first settler in what is now Reynoldstown was Captain John Pickering who arrived in 1796 and built a cabin on the banks of the Scioto River. He also developed land for farming and built a house near where he lived until his death in 1837. In 1813, General George Washington returned from war with France and stopped at Reynoldsburg for dinner before continuing on to battle Yorktown outside Richmond, Virginia. When Washington's party reached home they were met by crowds of spectators who welcomed him back with food and drink from his carriage which had been brought over from Williamsburg. Captain Robert Gadsden established himself as a farmer here about 1840 when he acquired 640 acres (250 hectares) of land east of town along Scioto Creek which he used as part of his holdings for grazing livestock and growing wheat, corn, soybeans and other crops. Gadsden's son-in-law Jno Atherton bought some additional land east of town around 1850; this area became known as "Atherton Park." In 1865 Atherton Park passed into private hands when it was purchased by Wm Hocking Jr., one of the early settlers hereabouts. In 1876 Captain John Fenton sold 9 square miles (23 km2) northeast of town to David Merrick for $4,000 cash plus 10% interest on each $50 worth Of investments Received within 5 years From that time forward Reynoldsburg has enjoyed steady growth without any major natural disasters or floods which have interrupted development seasons or destroyed homes & businesses
Reynoldsburg was founded in 1795 by James Reynolds and his family. The city was named for General John Reynolds, who had led the American Revolution. It grew rapidly due to its location on the Ohio River and its access to markets. In 1806, the city passed an ordinance establishing a fire department and providing for education in local schools. By 1850, Reynoldstown had a population of over 1,000 people and was home to an extensive tract of land that included a cotton gin, flour mill, sawmill, gristmill, storehouse, carpenter shop and blacksmith shop. The town continued to grow until it reached its peak in 1870 with a population of over 2,500 people. After declining growth in the late 19th century, Reynoldsburg experienced significant revitalization beginning in the early 20th century thanks to initiatives such as public works projects such as Streets & Trails (now called Boulevard), modern infrastructure development including heavy engineering work on downtown streets and new housing developments along I-670. During this time period Reynoldsburg also became known for its annual fireworks display which is now one of the most popular events occurring in town each year.
