Reynoldsburg is a small town in the county of Fayette in central Ohio. It was founded in 1821 as a log cabin community on the Scioto River. The town grew rapidly, and by 1830 had a population of around 100 people. In 1836, Reynoldsburg became the seat of Fayette County and incorporated as a city. In 1902, gun lasers were first developed in Reynoldsburg by inventor Julius Wesson. Wesson'sGun Laser was used to make photosensitive films using light from ordinary everyday sources such as candles or flashlights. Reynoldsburg is a small town in the Ohio Valley region of the United States. The population was 10,507 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Reynoldsburg is located on the banks of the Muskingum River and includes parts of Highland, Whitehall, and Park Heights neighborhoods. The community started as a small farmstead called "Grant" on what is now State Route 27A near present-day Reynoldsburg High School. A post office was established in 1847, and by 1865, Grant had outgrown its original site and moved to a new location four miles east on State Route 54 north of what is now Stonington Elementary School. The Grant family retains ownership and control over much of today's community with their farmhouse still standing in current day Whitehall neighborhood just east of I-95 exit 197B (Ohio State Road 7) which connects Cincinnati with Dayton to the north and Columbus to the south. In 1892, two brothers named George Witherspoon purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) along Muskingum River between present-day US 20/US 42/State Route 354 & US 136 from James Muhlenberg (1837-1925), one of Cincinnati's early pioneers and president of trustees for University Trustees Company #3 which served as a charter school for pre-Kindergarten through high school students in Greater Cincinnati.]] [Muhlenberg donated land that became Muskingum Hills Golf Course.]] In addition to his donation, Witherspoon also built several homes including White Hall–a Queen Anne style home now occupied by The Gables hotel across Tryon Street from old High School building –which he named after his wife who died while he was away at college]. Witherspoon served as Mayor pro tempore from 1901 until 1903 when incumbent John Pemberton took office due to term limits set by Ohio General Assembly member Lucius Clay (1860-1939). During Pemberton's tenure as mayor, city services were centralized under one director while recreation programs were added such as an ice cream truck program operated by Boston Creamery employees during summertime]]. After leaving office following two terms, Jens Jensen became mayor in World War I serving until 1921 when Cleveland businessman Julius Rosenwald bought City Hall from Jens Jensen for $1 million [*]]. Rosenwald renamed it Goodyear Rubber Plantation after American rubber company but sold it to Cyrus Krieger Sr., son of Cyrus Krieger Jr., founder or West Point Distributing Company*][([[ ca 1916 - ca 1922 ]])], who reorganized Goodyear into Krieger Rubber Corporation [*][([[1920s]]]), one of first large companies organized under National Industrial Recovery Act*.][([[1920s]])]). After selling Goodyear Rubber Corporation*, Krieger retired age 78 years*][([[ca 1946 - ca 1951 ]])], moving back to Reynoldsburg where he lived until his death *][([[ca 1962 - ca 1966 ]]))]. Reynoldsburg is a community located in Harrison County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. Reynoldsburg is named after James Reynolds, who donated land to the town in 1814. The first post office was established in 1816 and the name changed to Reynoldsburg in 1827. The original schoolhouse burned down in 1903 but a new one was built and served until 1978. In 1907, Reynoldstown Township was formed from portions of Harrison and Medina Counties and it became an independent municipality on November 3, 1928. Reynoldsburg has two schools: Reynoldsburg Elementary School which serves students grades K-5 and Central High School which serves grades 6-12. The community began as a farming township with a few homes and businesses erected around 1800 by James Reynoldsohns family or their descendants aided by others such as Ebenezer Scudder of Delaware County (then known as Monaca). A smallpox epidemic that struck Monaca in 1795 caused many farmers to flee to John Lapp’s farmstead on the Scioto River for safety; this prompted James Reynoldsohn to purchase 640 acres (2 km2) of present day Harding Township from Lapp for $1 per acre (0·50 ha). At first it consisted only of some drovehog swamps along the Scioto River banks near where present day State Route 231 intersects it east of what is now called Dutch Hall Road; these were walled off by large posts set into the earth about 12 feet (3 m) deep with high stone fences surrounding them for cattle husbandry purposes during times when open water extended beyond those bounds. In 1814 James Reynolds donated 136 acres (4 km2) including present day Harding Township east of Dutch Hall Road and 100 acres (40 ha) west thereof to establish what would become Reynoldstown Township on July 2, 1827 under terms then prevailing at that time between Indians and white men over land transactions not kinship related: “I give unto you 200 rods [10 yd] long & 15 wide & 10 high viz my house situate upon my lands within your limits...& I do hereby covenant never again sell or deliver any part thereof without consenting thereto either by me or my Heirs forever more”James also agreed “never again shall any individual assault me or damage me any property except revengeately”; this agreement provided for Township meetings held annually thereafter beginning with election night on December 5th each year followed by discussion/agreement items until resolutions were passed authorizing incorporation into a county if desired thereby avoiding conflictual issues between Indian tribesmen living adjacent thereto always remaining autonomous while local government functioned within designated boundaries thusly maintaining communal peace through self-government principles throughout its existence resulting ultimately in its annexation into Harrison County effective January 1st 1830…..indeed much like our own Country today 50 years later many residents still reside here making it home whether they admit it or not! The first post office opened at Nessville on October 14th1828 under license from Franklin County.. mail reached Reynoldstown from LancasterCounty via Wacoaland Ford Ferry which had been started October 7th1800….this ferry service ended operations due to low traffic levels about 1840….the river becoming too shallow for barges so canal construction commenced…the first canal crossing occurred about 1850….the last canals crossed approximately 1900…..enclosed within these walls are relics dating back over 150 years
