The community name derived from an incident where General Reynolds' daughter passed through the area on her way to college. On hearing this story, one of General Reynolds' daughters said "I SHALL REYNOLDSBURG!" This led to the name being given to the community and it has been unchanged since then. The town dates back to early 1800s when Major General George Washington Reynolds settled here with his family and began developing land around what is now downtown on Dublin Road/Highway 711. In 1812, he laid out a section of land called Reynoldstown which became the nucleus of today's Reynoldsburg. Colonel James Wilkinson donated 640 acres (248 hectares) of Federal lands east of Dublin Road for development into a town site that became known as Reynoldstown Township on November 6, 1814 (the same day that Cincinnati's charter was ratified). By 1830, over 10% of the total population lived in township form within two miles (3 km) radius of their homes! In 1836, Colonel John Crampton donated 160 acres (64 hectares) northwest of downtown for use as a military reservation known as Camp Randall RR & RR #2 - home to West Point Cadets until 1862 when they were moved to New York City under President Abraham Lincoln’s orders (). Thereafter Camp Randall served as both a training ground and later homebase for Ulysses S Grant during World War II (). This large donation allowed Reynoldstown Township to become one of America's major towns by 1840 - making it one-third larger than any other township in Ohio at that time! fabricating such growth has come about because: 1) much property remained undeveloped due primarily to prohibitive taxes; 2) many businesses were located near open public roads; 3) numerous churches or religious institutions erected schools or colleges nearby; 4) excellent transportation links made Reynoldstown easy access points for business entities throughout central Ohio ; 5) intelligent residents chose locations convenient enough for work but also close enoughto enjoy quality outdoor activities without having ToeJammer syndrome Today we continue this tradition by welcoming many new families each year who choose our wonderful community based upon its unique character along with its great education opportunities available here!

Reynoldsburg is a town in Fayette County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,631 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton-Cincinnati metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Reynoldsburg was Isaac Neely in 1792. In 1824, John Reynolds and his brother James founded a grist mill on the Scioto River. The mill became an important local commodity because it could grind corn to make flour for farming communities in central Ohio. In 1836, George Witherspoon leased the mill from Neely and built a new factory on the river bank that still stands today. The new factory produced clothing for American soldiers during World War II. In 1907, Reynoldsburg annexed what had been Miamisburg Township to its westward extent and incorporated as a town under the name of Reynoldsburg-Miamisburgh Township on November 3 of that year. As Reynoldsburg grew, so too did its need for government services; an additional Grist Mill Street building was erected in 1916 to house township hall and other township related offices (including courtrooms). This building still stands today within the bounds of town limits as well as being rented out for events such as weddings and meetings. From 1922 until 1957, when it closed due to lack of business activity, Reynoldsburg's only post office was located inside the old gristmill building which also housed township hall until 1961 whenmail service began using Village Hall adjacent to First Baptist Church across Scioto River from original post office site
