In 1902 after years of planning by Mayor John Dellermeyer and City Manager James Kappelhoffer, Reading opened its new lakeshore pier which has since been renamed after him including a marina with slips for pleasure boats and jet skis; renovated buildings including town hall; new schools - three high school districts: Catholic School District #1-built 1907; Lutheran School District #2-1910; African American School District #3-1911; Day Care CenterDistrict #4/51988 & 1990 & 1992 - all operated by private individuals until 1997 when they were combined into one district named “Reading Public Schools” through legislation authored by then–Governor John Kasich under then–Senator Ted Kaufman Kasich himself would later become Education Secretary under President Barack Obama before being elected Governor of Ohio in 2012 On November 3rd voters approved passage of Measure 2 making Reading an incorporated city subject to mayoral review instead of having it be governed solely by City Council members like it currently stands That same year also saw completion or renovation projects at many other local government buildings throughout Greater Cleveland including: Akron Municipal Airport Authority Building(renovated 1988); Lighthouse Point Resort Hotel(renovated 1990); Masonic Temple( rehabilitated 1990); FirstEnergy Stadiumusky Terminal Tower(rehabilitated 2002)); University Circle Shopping Mall(opened 1999) among others

Reading, Ohio, is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio located on the Scioto River. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located about 15 miles (24 km) east of downtown Dayton. The first permanent settler in Reading was Nicholas Wright who arrived in 1788 from Connecticut. He built a log cabin on what is now South High Street and named it Wrightstown after himself and his son John. In 1811, he married Martha Ann Henshaw and they started to clear land for farming around their home on Delaware Road east of present-day North Park Drive. They also built a frame house on what is now West High Street which they called "The White House". In 1820, Reading received its charter as an incorporated town from the county government of Holmes County. The town's first mayor was Josiah Harmar and its first Congresswoman was Maria Childs Boggs; both women were born in nearby Middletown Township. A post office was established at Readington in 1830, but it remained inactive until 1840 when it was moved to its current location near Market Square; it continued to serve as an outpost for mail delivery until 1896 when all communications within Dayton were moved to Dayton proper by electric telegraph lines. During the American Civil War, Reading saw heaviest fighting along the Scioto Riverfront where General Ulysses S Grant's army landed late into November 1863 during his Overland Campaign that culminated with his successful crossing of the river at Cairo Station under tense circumstances with Union forces held off just long enough for him to escape across into Kentucky before withdrawing back upriver again towards Columbus Junction where he finally reached safety two days later after weeks of hard marching through treacherous terrain including night crossings over frozen streams and deep water gaps). On December 12th 1865 General Winfield Scott issued orders relieving General Robert Ewell's division being stationed at Cairo Junction prevent any Confederate reinforcements coming downriver which led to significant Confederate losses including 5 dead officers standards alone amongst a total force totaling nearly 25,000 men - this event marked one of Price's most famous battlefield successes as well as one that helped solidify Price's reputation as one of America’s preeminent military commanders following the war). One reason why reading fared relatively well during these hostilities compared other towns along Ohio’s Central riverside would be due largely to its strategic location midway between Cincinnati and Columbus making it easy for Union troops moving upstream or downstream via Monmouth Creek valley crossings without fear thereof ambushes set against them either disembarking unloading supplies or laying siege while deployed positions could easily have been captured had there been such opportunity; alsougunboat traffic passing through then present day Readington regularly providing essential commerce goods necessary for local residents engaged in agriculture such as flour, pork bellies etc., thus sustaining levels even lower than if those same resources had not been available Close proximity by numerous major waterways made transportation difficult if not impossible so much so that some early entrepreneurs set up shop inland utilizing mule teams running between points rather then reliance upon wagon roads thereby limiting opportunities for Federal cavalry or infantry units operating adjacent thereto should enemy ambushes occur) . Additionally several large brick manufacturing plants began operations locally providing employment directly or indirectly throughout many local families during Reconstruction years following emancipation making read once again something resembling somewhat ‘normal’ considering post-Civil War society
