After becomingogunized by Nazi Germany in 1933, the town's arsenal was confiscated and all firearms were destroyed. However, some of these guns were saved and converted into new gun pouches. The original Laughlin pouch is still used today as part of the Ravenna Gun Pouch Museum display.

Ravenna is a small village in and around Ravenna Township, Wayne County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati metropolitan area. The first European settlers in what is now Ravenna were French Huguenots who arrived in 1786. The land they took was near what is now Delaware Avenue and Bellefontaine Road. They named their settlement after the Roman city of Ravenna on the Adriatic coast of Italy. In 1802 John Wilkinson donated two lots to form the Village of Ravenna which included all that currently sits within present-day Ravenna Township and portions of Delaware Avenue and Bellefontaine Road. A post office was established at Ravenna in 1807, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1814 Englishman James Wilkinson purchased 1,000 acres (500 hectares) east of present-day Ravenna from Nicholas de la Grange for $5 per acre ($100 per hectare). This area became known as "The Wilkinson Farm". James Wilkinson also donated a schoolhouse to serve his new community; this structure still stands today on Bellefontaine Road near where he settled his family into their farmstead. The village began to grow rapidly due to its location close to transportation hubs like Dayton and Cincinnati as well as its convenient access to public lands for farming purposes which led to its eventual incorporation as a village by an act passed by the Ohio General Assembly on December 3, 1827. During World War II many residents withdrew from society and formed resistance groups against the Axis powers; these efforts ultimately failed but left a lasting legacy on town government style governance throughout much of western Ohio following World War II. A fire destroyed most of central business district in early 1945 while Allied forces were retreating from Germany during WWII; this event has been cited as one of the earliest examples of urban renewal in America local governments undertaking such initiatives with little or no input from citizens or support from private enterprise seeking economic development leading directly to increased crime rates subsequent decades later despite various attempts by officials at both state and local level to address this issue through zoning restrictions/incentivesprograms etc.; nevertheless some semblance continuing growth occurredalbeit more modestly throughout postwar years resulting primarily from newly annexed eastern suburbs that had recently become available nearby due largelyto suburban sprawlBryan Wirth

In 1814, General Andrew Jackson visited Ravenna and ordered all supplies taken away from its inhabitants to support his army in the Battle of White Sulphur Springs. During World War II, Ravenna played an important role as a munitions production center for American forces fighting in Europe. The city also hosted both world championships in auto racing, held at Goodyear's track each year between 1988 and 2000; andthe 2006 NFL Draft for the Cleveland Browns, which took place at FirstEnergy Stadium.[1] The history of Ravenna goes back much further than that though most notably it was settled by German colonists who arrived during pre-Revolutionary America before 1800 AD when they named what is now Cuyahoga County after their own homes near Hamburg Germany (today’s Youngstown).[2][3][4] They were farmers with some fur traders involved too[5]. Both sides fought often over land grants given out during Treaty of Paris following Revolutionary War[6]. Ultimately control over this area passed through several hands until 1805 when George Washington granted it to Nicholas Morrell([7]), one of three British subjects living within Indiana Territory then known as Canada.[8] With American independence gaining momentum early on many borderland settlers chose Ohio rather than fight for independence,[9] although others did fight against America[10]. One such group include Captain John Forbes who built his trading post near present day Ravenna in 1796 while other early residents included David Rice (1798), Solomon Kilgore (1800), Jabez Dent (1802)and Benjaminffer Coles (1803). After a few years building he sold rights to his property to James Thorpe ([11]). Eventually more families followed suit until by 1800 there were about 25 families residing here including 10 Germans[12][13], nine Swiss[14], six French Canadians [15], four Dutchmen [] five native Americans [16][17], three Irishmen [] . By 1814 only two families remained but due to military action surrounding White Sulphur Springs that year many refugees opted to stay put[18]. General Andrew Jackson came through town during this time visiting local businesses and ordering goods taken away for use by the US Army besieging Fort Wayne Indiana[] whereupon many locals decided not to fight against America knowing they could live comfortably under British rule if needed or worse see their homeland destroyed like their compatriots had done earlier with little hope or possibility for Compensation or return should things go wrong[] [*] [*19 ]. When Ravensburg became part of Cuyahoga County we lost all our downtown buildings but regained them slowly because most people here still live close enough so they can visit us every couple weeks or so even if they are out of town on business/ pleasure trip etc... We have been able to keep our vibrant arts scene alive despite having no downtown buildings because most people here either work proximate jobs or attend nearby art academies/universities which offer classes/workshops throughout the week without having to leave home
Ravenna, Ohio was founded in 1795 by Ulysses S. Grant and his brothers as a post office on the Scioto River. The town grew up around the grant land grantee's home, which became known as the Grant-Ferguson House. The town was named for General James H. Ravenna, who served in the Union army during the American Civil War and later settled in Ohio.
