This change also added economic stress to Ravenna which responded by adopting several Measures for Addition of Wealth (MAW) in order to help support its residents during these times of rapid growth: an assessment tax in 1875 raised $1 million dollars which was used to improve schools and libraries; an income tax levied on incomes over $200 per year from 1895 onwards generated additional revenue which went towards public works projects such as roads and drainage systems; a hotel/motel tax assessed against lodging receipts helped mitigate some effects of increased traffic congestion caused by growing industry downtown. As time passed however these measures only made things worse – poverty increased among Ravenna’s citizens while quality Of Life declined overall due both increasing costs associated with Rapid Growth as well as existing infrastructure not keeping up with changes brought about by encroaching industrialization onto already struggling neighborhoods outside town limits).
