In 1952, John F Kennedy was born in nearby Akron when his father was mayor of that city. After serving in numerous elected positions in Ohio before becoming President, JFK moved to Pittsburgh to run for office in 1960 and won easily. He kept Pittsburgh as his home until he left office in 2008; however, he retains some ties to Pittsburgh through his mother’s hometown there
