Pickerington is a town in theuy of Pickerington Township, Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,874 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lima-Muncie-Gary, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Ar15 upper receivers were designed and produced in Pickerington by Oberlin Armory Workshops Inc., also known as "Oberlin Arms". The first Oberlin Armory was opened on Elm Street in 1868 by John Hennepin. In 1902, Oberlin Armory moved to its current location on West Second Street near Beavercreek Rd. In 1954, it became an armory for the United States Air Force and remained that way until 1997 when it became an armory for ammunition manufacturer Remington Arms Company. In 2000, Remington Arms Company merged with Brownells Firearms Corporation to form Brownell & Barnes Firearms Corporation (B&B). This change in ownership resulted in B&B producing AR15 rifles under both company names for marketing purposes until 2006 when all production shifted to a single manufacturing plant located in Remington Park outside of Erie, Pennsylvania where all AR15 rifles are made today.

Pickerington, Ohio is a small town in northeastern Ohio on the border of Westmoreland and Butler counties. The population was 6,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–uyc Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now called Pickerington was originally inhabited by the Miami tribe of Indians. In 1795, General George Washington's forces burned down the village to prevent its capture by British troops during their war with France. The community grew up around a flour mill and sawmill which operated until 1820. In 1825, John Pickering built a grist mill on East Main Street which continued to operate until it was destroyed by fire in 1868. The townspeople rebuilt their mills and began producing flour for local markets until they were replaced by breweries in the early 19th century. The first brewery in Pickerington was opened in 1834 by Nicholas Wagner with his brother Jacob Wagner as partners. Over time, other brewers joined them including Samuel Schell (1840-1910), Edward Smith (1845-1924) and John Henschel (1847-1922). By 1860, there were six breweries operating in Pickerington with a combined production capacity of over one million barrels per year. In 1899, the first electric streetcar service ran through downtown Pickerington providing access to businesses on Market Street between First and Second Streets along what is now Fourth Avenue near Progressive Field baseball park. After World War II, industry declined but Pickertonon gradually regained its former prominence as an agricultural center due to its large corn crop which became feed for livestock throughout much of Northeast Ohio after being diverted from other uses during prohibition years when alcohol could be bought only from state-owned stores statewide instead of available at more clandestine retailers across towne
