The Perrysburg Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1907. It became a national organization in 1911, when it merged with the National Rifle Association. The NRA purchased the Perrysburg club’s rifles and pistols in 1924. In 1934, NRA created the National Shooting Sports Foundation to preserve and promote shooting sports. The foundation also endowed the first scholarship for rifle and pistol shooting at Ohio State University. The Perragh Shotgun Corporation manufactured hearing protectors starting in 1915. Perrysburg is a town in Summit County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,241 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The downtown core is served by the Perrysburg School District and Perrysburg Municipal Airport. The first settler in present-day Perrysburg was James Hance who platted the town in 1814. In 1835, John Bickle founded a grist mill on the Cuyahoga River near what is now Broad Ripple Boulevard and William Penn Highway. The mill still stands and produces flour for local consumption as well as exporting to other states. In 1853, Neil Armstrong became one of the first people to walk on the moon when he set foot on Apollo 11 soil while working at Litton Paper Company's printing plant just east of town. With its convenient location between Cleveland and Akron for shopping and work opportunities, Perrysburg quickly grew into a busy agricultural center with many mills and businesses around it until World War II when most industry died off due to wartime production hikes. Afterward, growth slowed significantly until recent times when several high-profile developments - such as construction of Interstate 765 - have restored much prosperity to townspeople over the past few years The city limits encompass all but 1/8th of current township land which straddles Holmes Road (northwest corner)and State Route 527 (southwest corner). Parts of what are today parts of neighboring townships were annexed by Perrysburg during annexation proceedings in 1955; these areas include portions of Arlington Heights to the northeast (now part of Strongsville), Hudson Heights northwest (now part of Hilliard), Millcreek Township northeast (now part Ofallon), Vineyard Township southeast (partly Ahwatukee Heights), Parma Township southwest (Now Stewartsville) Additionally there are small portions located within Clairton Borough which encompass Parker Road north/northwest boundary line south/southwest boundary line east/east boundary line westbound street US 25 Business Loop just outside borough limits
