In 1875, the Perrysburg Rifle and Pistol Club was formed in Perrysburg, Ohio. The club members were interested in using rifles for target shooting and also wanted to learn about rifle stocks and how they could be used. In 1895, the club began teaching a course in rifle stock history. At this time, most rifles were mass-produced without any consideration of how they might be used. The club's course was successful and taught many people how to use their weapons effectively. Today, the club continues to teach its courses on rifle stock history and is one of the few organizations that still holds an annual meeting on rifle stocks in the town.

Perrysburg is an unincorporated community in Perry Township, Summit County, Ohio, United States. It lies northeast of the town of Akron and northwest of the village of Rome. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,837. The name "Perrysburg" is derived from German colonists who founded a settlement there in 1795. The community was platted on April 12, 1827 by James Henshaw and others under the name "Erie." A post office called Perrysburg was established in 1836, and remained in operation until it closed on December 15, 1937. In 1873, Wm. L. Moody opened a store at what is now the intersection of State Route 514 and Perry Road (now US 224). In 1907 much of Perrysburg began to be developed as part of what would become the city of Akron; however most residents continue to live near their homes hereabouts. The late William Matson purchased land adjacent to present-day High Point Shopping Center in 1978 and began developing it into a mixed-use development that includes apartments and retail space along with parkland for public use including a baseball diamond and track/ball field Clubhouse can still be seen behind some buildings today
