In the early 1800s, Perrysburg was a small town in northwest Ohio with a population of around 1,000. However, by 1830, the town had grown to over 3,000 people and had started to develop its own infrastructure. This included a new courthouse which was completed in 1835 and became one of the first buildings in Perrysburg. The town also developed an infrastructure for irrigation and began to grow crops. In 1846, Perrysburg started building its own railway system which would eventually become one of the largest in the United States. The railway system helped Perrysburg become one of the most prosperous towns in northeast Ohio. Furthermore, it helped make Perrysburg an important economic center within Ohio. In addition to its role as an economic center, Perryburgh also became known for its fine architecture and engineering feats during this time period. For example, the first bridge across the Scioto River was constructed in 1851 and served as a major artery connecting both sides of town. Additionally, many of Perrysburgh's tallest landmarks were built during this time including Bank Street Tower (1872), State Capitol (1875), Masonic Temple (1898), Presbyterian Church (1902), and High School (1906).

Perrysburg is a small town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Warren metropolitan area. The first settlers in Perrysburg were Methodists who called the town "Milton." In 1814, Eliakim Worthington built a log cabin on the Sachem River and named it after his father Perry's birthplace in Pennsylvania. The first store was organized in 1824 by Ebenezer Cook and others. A post office was established here in 1827 and remained operational until 1888. In 1870, Isaac Ziegler founded what would become the major railroad company in Ohio, the Erie Railroad. He named his new company for his home state of Iowa; Perrysburg became its corporate headquarters. The town's population grew rapidly during this time as railroads brought people and products to local businesses and residents. By 1900, Perrysburg had over 100 businesses and boasted an amateur orchestra, Congregational chapel (now First Baptist Church), public school system with grades K-12, three churches (Methodist/Congregational/Catholic), a library, several response halls for agricultural fairs (the first being erected in 1892), two cotton gin plants (1895 & 1901) as well as five theaters which screened films from 1904-1910; two were located on Main Street: one opened on May 5th 1904 by Wm Hartsfield and showcased silent movies while another opened on October 25th 1910 by John Barrymore headlined motion pictures only). During World War II many residents served their country fighting overseas or helping with war production at home including four men from Perrysburg who enlisted early in 1943 as members of Company C2d Tank Battalion 214th Infantry Regiment based out of Fort Knox KY; they later received medals for their service including the Distinguished Service Cross which went to Corporal Joseph Fenton After World War II there continued rapid growth with many subdivisions being developed such as Southeastern Heights subdivision off State Route 22 east of downtown which included a shopping mall complete with restaurants etc., West Side Addition adjacent to Interstate 76 across I-76 from downtown that featured high end homesites etc., Elmwood Park just north of US 6 extending northeast into Canton Township also featuring high end homesites etc., Harbor View subdivision west of I-71 along harborside Boulevard including multiple yacht clubs among other amenities.. One can see evidence of this growth still present today even though most subdivisions have been developed more than 20 years ago when one drives through town limits

On July 4th, 2009, Perrysburg held its first-ever holiday parade which featured floats made up entirely of local children wearing costumes representing various aspects of their hometown such as orphans (“AARP Kids”), firefighters (“Blue Angels”), policemen (“ Perucca Police Department ”) and more! Today, much like many other American cities during this time period, Perrysburg is home to a large number of retirees - many of whom are concentrated around downtown where they can enjoy cultural attractions such as art galleries and theaters or take advantage of excellent shopping opportunities including unique clothing stores and antique malls
Perrysburg was founded by Captain George Perry in the early 1800s. The town was named after General John Wayne, who fought in the American Revolution. In 1903, Perrysburg became a city and it has since grown to become one of the most vibrant communities in Ohio.
