On December 5th during Council Meeting it was voted unanimously that former Assistant Chief Tom Cross will become Mayor Pro Tempore effective January 1st 2019 while new Mayor Rich Higgins takes office July 1st 2019

Perrysburg, Ohio is a town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,552 at the 2010 census. It was named for General George Washington and his family during the American Revolution. The first permanent settler in Perrysburg was John Richardson in 1792. In 1812, Major General Ira Harris built a house on the current site of State Highway 6 and called it Perrysburg House. Perrysburg's post office was founded in 1817 and had its first mail service to Columbus on November 12, 1818. In 1870, local citizens voted to incorporate as a village; however, they were not able to achieve full independence until 1907. The area now comprising Perrysburg was originally part of Scioto Township. On July 8, 1814, Colonel Anthony Wayne moved his brigade from Reserve Battalion #2 under command of Captain Robert Stephenson from Battle Creek to Scioto Township as part of the general reconnoissance which opened the Campaign of Gettysburg. That same day he also acquired title to 2 miles (3 km) north of what is now downtown Perrysburg fromename owner James Prentice who had been living there since 1794 with his family including three sons: Isaac (1784-1858), John (1789-1868), and Christopher (1793-1862). On January 25th following Wayne's purchase he donated this property south of US 10 between Fifth Street and Seventh Avenue east of Centre Street to form what would become downtown Perryburg when it incorporated as a village on February 5th 1907 In addition to its economic importance as an agricultural center due to its fertile soil and location near large rivers such as the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers; Perrysburg also served as home for many political leaders during its early years including Pennsylvania Congressman David Wilmot who represented District 10 from 1865 until his death in 1876 etta important place because during war times people could come here safe because we had fortifications like spikes on top of our buildings
Perrysburg was founded in 1789 by General James Monroe and Major General Ebenezer Mifflin. The town was named for Colonel John Perry, the first settler. In 1815, the town passed to the United States government as part of the Northwest Territory. In 1821, it became a city under the name of Perrysburg. It grew rapidly after Ohio's admission into the Union as a state in 1848, and by 1860 had a population of over 100 people. The city Limits were extended eastward in 1870 to include present day Mentor and Rossville Township; this annexation set off another growth spurt for Perrysburg which reached its peak in 1880 with a population of over 300 people. By 1900, Perrysburg had declined slightly but still numbered around 350 people. However, during World War I, when many small businesses closed due to wartime shortages, Perrysburg experienced an influx of military personnel who made major contributions to Allied victory. After the war ended, citizens began to return to their homes and businesses; however, economic stagnation followed until the early 21st century when Perrysburg regained some much needed stability through various local initiatives such as job creation through technology companies and new housing developments
