In 1836, the Perrysburg Rifle Club was formed in Perrysburg, Ohio. In 1840, the club began using cannons to shoot at targets in a nearby park. The first successful shot was fired on July 4th of that year. The club continued to use cannons until 1845 when they switched to rifles. The rifle club disbanded in 1847 but reformed two years later as the Musketeers. They continued using muskets until 1861 when they switched to pistols again. From 1861-1865, the musketeers served in the Union army and then folded after their president died suddenly.
Perrysburg is a small town in Summit County, Ohio, United States. The population was 8,515 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Summit Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Perrysburg was John Ritchie who arrived in 1795. The post office was established in 1814, and the town was named after General George Washington's birthplace and home on Georgetown Pike. In 1828, a store and log cabin were built near what is now State Route 612 south of the village center. Plans for a public school were made but never realized until 1865 when Reverend James Wightman donated land to build a schoolhouse. Construction began on November 1, 1868 and the school opened for students on December 4th. On January 9th 1870, Perrysburg became an incorporated village under the laws of Ohio. In 1902, Southeastern Ohio Coal Company became interested in purchasing all of Summit County from the state government with plans to develop it into coal country. Steel production started arriving soon afterwards with mills built at Perrysburg and Marietta which rapidly increased production while also creating opportunities for employment within the community outside of manufacturing jobs that had been scarce before steel production took off hereabouts (steel prices went up then too). The town saw rapid growth as more people moved into their new homes and businesses sprang up all around them including grocery stores (one still exists today), library services (now district-owned), several churches (including onePresbyterian) as well as parks (which are still active today). By 1936 there were over 150 residences with over 100 businesses located hereabouts making it one of "the great old industrial towns" according to historian David cupid notes even surpassing nearbyAkron where auto plants replaced traditional local roles during this time period In 1941 years after World War II ended*, when America entered into another global conflict known as The Cold War* things changed again with largeAmerican companies moving back into “the heartland” seeking larger markets especially along Interstate 80* which led to increased joblessness throughout much of central Ohio* until finally something positive came about by way of innovative economic development hereabouts culminating with many new residents moving back home following technological advancements such as 3D printing* thus revitalizing downtowns like Marietta/Aurora which have seen major resurgence recently Perrysburg has experienced some tough times recently due to its proximity to Cleveland however recent efforts have restored hope thanks largely to innovation being brought about by startups such as MakerBot Industries Inc.* Distribution Centers * Apparel Stores * scientific research centers * 3D Printing Services

Perrysburg became an agricultural community with large tracts of land used for farming and lumbering during the 19th century; however, heavy industry began to arrive in the early 20th century including sheet metal production and plastics manufacture which led to development of downtown Perrysburg as a commercial center serving both local businesses and those in neighboring townships. Today, downtown Perrysburg remains an important hub for economic activity with several high-end shops and restaurants offering locals and visitors access to quality produce, cuts from local animals or seafood, plus attractions such as the restored German Lutheran Church (1825) and its adjacent botanical garden complete with orchids and ferns. As part of United States History Month celebration in November 2009, The Post-Gazette paid tribute to local pioneers who helped make Perrysburg what it is today: "In 1811 when John Perry founded his Methodist colony near Mount Pleasant he knew that this area would be richly populated because it had been given away by President George Washington at league negotiations after British forces burned down Fort Pitt." Among these pioneers were James Pritchard who built Pritchard's Store on Ferry Street in 1865; Hiram Dobbins who erected a sawmill on Mill Creek in 1870; David Ritchie who platted Block Island Township in 1881; Jacob Hesterman whose store occupied Main Street between High Street and Wellesley Avenue until 1886 when it was destroyed by fire; Elijah Chandler whose millrace forms most of present day Clinton Avenue; Aiden Sisson who built an insurance agency on East Market Street soon after moving from his original home on State Road 488 north into present day Perrysburg in 1907 Richard Flackenheimer who served as township trustee from 1907 until his death in 1925 while also running The Daily News print shop across Clinton Avenue from Ivey's Drugstore where he enjoyed daily gossip meetups with community stalwarts like Judge Cavanaugh before retiring there permanently effective December 1 1923 posterior To announce his retirement Judge Cavanaugh remarked "Richard Flackenheimer has made more than any other person contribution ever towards settling this place" - continued operation unchanged until closing days later due to lack of competition In 1925 Gertrude Connell opened her first grocery store next door at 601 Clinton Ave., becoming one of the earliest female merchants operating within central Ohio Mrs.(Alice) Beavers opened her second store (later increased size), Beaverton Grocery II at 625 Clinton Ave., later renamed Alice's Place Bazaar before finally selling out to Alfred Hines & Sons Incorporated over two decades later In 1984 developers purchased all five stores under Mrs.(Alice) Beavers' name along with three acres adjoining them forming Center Square Shopping mall which still offers groceries shopping services traditional retail items outlet mall features such as Sears/JCPenney/MallAmerica anchors
