In 1836, the first firearms were imported into Perrysburg. A few years later, in 1839, a gunsmith named George Washington was hired to make arms for the local militia. The following year, he opened a shop on High Street called "Washington's Armory." In 1841, Perrysburg became the first town in Ohio to ratify the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. Perrysburg is home to the world's first continuous ammunition manufacturing plant, opened in 1868. The company manufactured cartridges and revolvers until 1911. It then merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company, which operated the plant until it closed in 1929.
Perrysburg is a town in and the county seat of Perry County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The name "Perrysburg" originated from an early settler, John Perry. The first post office opened in 1827 and was renamed Perrysburg in 1868. The township was formed in 1837 from portions of Stark Township and it was named for General James K. Polk (1795-1846), who served as President of the United States during the Mexican–American War (1846-48). One of three townships created by act of Congress on December 12, 1838, Perrysburg included land that would later become Delaware Township. On March 14, 1850, the rest of Delaware Township became part of Perrysburg following a decision by the Ohio General Assembly to split off more populous counties into more manageable areas. The cornerstone for what is now known as Stroud Middle School was laid on October 10th 1889 by then Mayor George Wetherington Jr., only two years after its opening as one large school with eight classrooms across four stories inside anew brick building on Main Street which still stands today! In 1907, when Perrysburg made history by becoming America's first municipality to issue paper currency - notes backed by real estate values - it helped solidify its position as an Old West boomtown with a population totaling over 10 thousand people spread out over five square miles! Paper money soon gave way to electronic cash but few residents ever forgot about or forgave those pioneer women who had once put their own lives on hold just so they could provide essential services like mail service and streetlights while also developing new businesses such as candy stores and flour mills! With each passing year fewer people moved into this once thriving community until all that remains are some original buildings along Main Street including First National Bank & Trust Company where founders Fenton McMillin and his wife Lula operated until their retirement in 1984; Mrs. McMillin's grandson currently runs operations; and several other historical landmarks like Hapgood Drugs which closed its doors for good in 2003 after serving customers since 1938; Griggs Drug Store which reopened in 2006 after being closed for many years due to lack of funding; griggs Hardware store closed in 2009 but reopened a few months later when another hardware store chain decided to open up shop next door; Gossage’s Furniture which closed its doors back home in 2002 but reopened several weeks later under new ownership – finally bringing closure to one banner year for this once vibrant community!

Perrysburg is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Perry County. The population was 9,822 at the 2000 census. It lies on the Scioto River, about 18 miles (29 km) south-southwest of Cleveland, Ohio and about 25 miles (40 km) east-east of Cincinnati, Ohio. The first European to reach what is now Perrysburg was John Deere in 1814 while surveyors were mapping out the area for his company. By 1840, there were three stores and a wagon stop here; an hotel followed in 1843. In that year, Perrysburg became home to one of America's first schools - Mt Union Female Seminary which taught women until it closed in 1893. In 1836, both Philadelphia and Cincinnati offered land grants to settlers who would build homes on these lands; only 8 people did so and 2 families founded Perrysburg as a town. A store opened in 1840 by James Condon & Bros., which continued to be run until 1907 when it was sold to J B Smeaton & Sons Brewing Co.; then it was operated as a grocery until 1951 when it changed hands 4 times before being bought by Pritchard’s Grocery Company in 1973; finally being purchased by Kroger Incorporated in 2006 . After many years of operation as Kroger's main store here, the building that housed it from 1936 through 2006 – nicknamed "the tank" – went up for sale last year and sold for $1 million . The post office at Perrysburg opened on July 1st, 1830 among other townships located along the Scioto River between Cleveland and Cincinnati including Springfield Township on the west side of the river opposite where today's downtown is located on Euclid Avenue between Third Street SE and First Street NW; part of this township served as Borough/City borders with Dayton Township/Mt Vernon Township lying eastward within sight but not touchable distance thereof also lying northward beyond Sight lines with intersecting streets etcetera forming boundaries thereto; all aforesaid townships had their own Postmasters General presiding over them each with its own District Magistrate or Constable etcetera according to plans laid down by Daniel Webster during his State visits hither previous October 6th 1830 ; accordingly when Greenleaf received notification fromadier general Sturgis dated October 10th 1830 informing him that postmaster general had been ordered transferred from Springfield Armory barracks due vacancies occasioned by death or resignation of Mr Wm Fenton who had served during president Washington’s term also notice having been given previous May 15th 1830 relatives living near Springfield Armory had applied for appointment under said district magistrate William Davenport having resided therein since early spring prior thereto Warrants were accordingly issued accordingly appointing George Neely Esq Surgeon US Army Corps Of Engineers residing at Dayton Twp./Mt Vernon Twp./Greenleaf Settlementerville thenceforth known as "Perrysburgh" Post Office
Perrysburg was founded in 1797 by George Washington and his family. The town grew rapidly after the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825, and by 1830 it had a population of over 2,000. In the early 1800s, Perrysburg was known for its religious beliefs—it was home to the first Methodist church in Ohio. However, by 1860 Perrysburg's population had decreased to just 100 people. The town slowly began to decline during the 1870s and 1880s as manufacturing jobs departed for more populous regions. By 1900 Perrysburg's population had shrunk to just 50 people. However, due to revitalization efforts led by Mayor John Ahern and others, Perrysburg has seen a recent resurgence in its economy with a current population of around 300 people.
