Pataskala, Ohio is home to one of the most interesting gun targets in all of America. The target range here features a wide variety of firearms and ammunition options for anyone interested in shooting at it. From rifles to handguns, there's something for everyone. The origins of this range can be traced back to 1892 when two farmers, James Hickey and John McLaughlin, bought land east of the campus of Case Western Reserve University. They began small-scale target practices on their land and soon realized that they could make much more money by selling targets than by rent from the university. They then enlisted the help of local businessman John Fenton to open a large target range on his property. Fenton was an experienced marksman who had built a successful business supplying guns and Ammunition to law enforcement agencies throughout Ohio. He was also very influential in the development of modern target shooting techniques and equipment. His Range became one of the leading ranges in America, eventually becoming known as "The Fenton Range." Over time, other businesses were founded on or near the Fenton Range: The Hickey Shotguns Company (now part of Brownells), The Riflemen's Association Shop (later renamed TargetUSA), The Pistol Club (later renamed Cabela's Sports) and finally, Pataskala Gun & Archery Supply Co., Ltd., which still exists today as one of America's largest sporting goods retailers. Today, Pataskala Gun & Archery Supply has become one of Ohio's top tourist destinations with its unique collection of vintage firearms and ammo products as well as its world-famous Targetshooting Facility!

In 1849, the first gunfight took place in Pataskala when two United States forces, under the command of General Winfield Scott, fought the Shawnee Indians. The battle lasted three days and resulted in one American casualty; the Indian attackers lost four killed and thirteen wounded.
Pataskala is a town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Muncie metropolitan area. The name "Pataskala" was given to the community by General George Washington in 1792 while he was on his way to survey the western frontier. The first settler in Pataskala was James Crain who arrived in 1793 and built a simple log cabin on the banks of the Scioto River. He named his settlement after his father-in-law, Peter Skene, from Riga, Latvia. In 1814, John Stephenson founded a small trading post near present day downtown Pataskala and named it Stephenson's Landing for himself and his brother Thruston Stephenson (1787-1868). The post served as an early stopping point for travelers on their way to Fort Wayne and other points along the Great Lakes watershed. In 1825, John Fenton established what would become one of Ohio's most successful agricultural businesses – Fenton's Corn Exchange – at what is now Fourth Street near Clinton Avenue in downtown Pataskala. He became known as "theFather of corn." In 1829, he married Martha Jane Haggerty (1785-1850), daughter of Colonel James Haggerty (1759-1832) and Mary Ann Heyward (1764-1827). They raised nine children including noted farmers such as Myron Pogue Fenton (b. 1830), Cyrus Hoyt Fenton (b. 1836), Hiram Gardner Fenton (b. 1840), Elijah Morse Fenton Jr.(baptized December 26th 1861; died May 14th 1912)), Anna Maria Mayo(died 1889?), Charles Washingburne Fenton(born November 10th 1863; died October 4th 1955)). One of their sons – Myron Pogue Fenton – became one of America’s leading hydraulic engineers with responsibility for designs for both the Hoover Dam and Rocky Flats Reservoirs during World War II Fenton also developed a popular line of canned goods called "FentonsVILLE" which enjoyed success until its discontinuation in 1906 due to competition from more recent products available from larger firms such as Jarden & Company In 2007–2008, redevelopment began around Fourth Street that included new retail stores including anchors Macy's and Sears plus apartments redevelopment that increased occupancy by over 50%. As part of this project developer First Capital Group LLC renovated about two blocks east along Clinton Avenue into a high end shopping center anchored by Macy’s Department Store with an attached fitness center known as “Greenspace” vernacular architecture dating back to 1914 characterized much restored brick buildings occupying an open plaza straddling four sides bordered by sidewalks lined with Corinthian columns similar to those found at nearby Middletown . This complex has been highly successful becoming one of Dayton’s top tourist destinations drawing over 1 million visitors each year since opening . A large section north across Third Street between Third Avenue South and Fifth Avenue North recently became home to several restaurants including Chili’s Barbecue & Steak House , QSRettery , Bottega Veneta Clothing Warehouse - formerly Eastern Europe Furniture Warehouse - Renowned Jewelry store owner Lisa Mason Greenfield opened her namesake restaurant inside what once housed IHOP -formerly Tim Hortons - after years efforts On July 6 th 2017 First Capital group LLC announced they are closing all their stores except Macy's within two weeks starting July 7 th 2017 effective immediately causing immediate loss totaling $225M dollars

Pataskala is a small community in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, located in Stark County, Ohio. The community was founded in 1818 by John Patteson and his wife Ann. At its peak, Pataskala had a population of around 350 people. By the early 21st century, the population had decreased to 100 people. The town was originally named for John Patteson's father-in-law, Samuel Patterson. In 1828, Samuel Patterson donated land to the town for development. The town first boasted a public school and two churches. However, these structures were destroyed in 1832 by a fire. The first post office was established in Pataskala on May 1, 1838. The name of the post office changed to Pattesonville on July 1, 1840. On October 25 of that year, the home of John Patteson and his family burned down due to an accidental fire caused by their daughter Sophia setting a kindlingfire while playing with her brother's dog at home. In 1865, work started on building what would become Pataskala State Park(). This park would play an important role in local history because it is where many key events took place during Ohio's Civil War including battles fought at Perrysburg and Monmouth Heights (). The park also served as a training ground for Union soldiers during the war effort. After the war ended, many families moved into Pataskala from other parts of Stark County so that they could enjoy its beautiful country lifestyle (). By 1920 there were only 10 residents living inpataskala proper (). Overall however ,the community managed to keep up with changes brought about by technology such as automobiles (), electricity () and radios ().
Pataskala is a town in Morrow County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,559 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from the Powhatan word "pataskala" meaning "a place where there is game."
